This time, the official report from the advance screening held on Thursday, June 20th has arrived!
The cast members Kohei Amasaki, Akira Sekine, Satomi Amano, Masaaki Mizunaka, and the comedy trio Party-chan, who serve as promotional ambassadors, appeared at the event. They talked about the “supreme” points of the characters, the theme song, and more.
The high fantasy action series “Wisteria of the Cane and Sword,” by Fujino Omori, creator of the smash hit “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?”, will finally begin airing on 28 TBS affiliated stations nationwide from July 7. Prior to the broadcast, a preview screening of the TV anime “Wisteria of the Cane and Sword” was held at Shinjuku Piccadilly on Thursday, June 20.
The first episode of the series was finally unveiled to a large audience of fans, and the world of “Wisteria” was vividly depicted in animation, with incredible action scenes right from the start and a story filled with a succession of memorable characters.
After the screening, the stage was greeted by the star-studded cast, including the main characters Kohei Amaka (Will Selfort), Akira Sekine (Elfaria Alvis Selfort), Satomi Amano (Colette Loire), and Masaaki Mizunaka (Theon Alster). The cast took to the stage and greeted the audience with a friendly “Yay!” in reference to the title of “Wistria,” which drew thunderous applause from the audience.
During the stage greeting, the cast members one by one commented on the footage from episode 1, which was shown for the first time that day, saying, “It’s shocking!”, “It’s beyond my imagination,” and “It’s like a movie!” Amakasaki commented, “I think it felt even more realistic for everyone in the audience because they were able to watch the footage on a screen.”
Furthermore, in relation to the “Five Staffs of the Supreme Magia Wende” that appears in the work, when asked about “the most supreme thing about the characters they play,” Amakasaki replied, “Will has courage. His unyielding spirit and mental strength are what make him so appealing. I am able to play him with the help of Will’s unyielding spirit.” (Amasaki), “There are so many things I want to say, but if I say too much I’ll get in trouble (laughs). Elfaria’s charm is everything! I love her beautiful eyelashes and gaze!” (Sekine), “I think Colette’s charm is her strength to communicate. I love how she expresses her feelings directly. Her reactions to Will are so cute, and the gap between them is fascinating.” (Amano), and “Shion’s charm as a character is increasing rapidly, unlike what you would imagine. I want you to pay attention to that.” (Mizuka).
They also touched on the theme songs, and Amaki commented on the opening theme, “Fire and Fear” by PENGUIN RESEARCH, “It matches the fast-paced atmosphere of the dungeon battle scene in episode 1. It’s perfect for the battle scene. It seems to express Will’s heart as he faces fear with passion.” Regarding the ending theme, “Frozen” by TRUE, Sekine commented, “I can’t say much right now, but… it’s a song that expresses Elfaria’s cuteness and light-heartedness. I want you to listen to it while thinking of Elfaria. It’s a lovely song with a very clear feel.”
Furthermore, when comedian Party-chan, who is the promotional ambassador for the film, appeared on stage as a special guest at the event, the mood in the venue instantly became lively.
When all three were asked about their impressions of the video, Sugachan No.1 compared it to his own past experiences, saying, “First of all, I can relate to the main character, Will. Will also has a hard life, but I’ve also lived on my own since I was in the first year of junior high school, so I could understand how Will feels and it made me want to root for him even more. I hope he does his best.” Nobuko talked about her own family, who are descendants of Tokugawa Ieyasu, saying, “There are a lot of characters that appear, but among them, there are many people with noble descent. I also live my life so as not to bring shame to my family, so I can relate to that.” Furthermore, Kyonchii also touched on the appeal of the work, commenting, “The manga was interesting, but the visuals are beautiful too! It’s so much fun to find your favorite character. For now, it’s Will! He can’t use magic, but Will’s abilities and hard work are amazing!”
Amidst loud laughter, Party-chan spoke at length about what she thinks are the highlights of the show.
The exciting event came to an end, with the cast delivering messages of gratitude to the fans as the show drew to a close.
天﨑さん「ものすごい描きこみで、ものすごく作品に合った音楽で、声優陣も含めて力を込めて作品作りをしています。ファンの皆さんもぜひ作品の魅力を伝えてほしいです。ぱーてぃーちゃんと同様に、宣伝大使だと思って作品を広げていってください。」
関根さん「これから回を重ねていくごとに、エルファリアちゃんの魅力をたっぷり伝えられると思います。初回放送開始日は７月７日で七夕の日です。織姫と彦星のように、いつかウィルと再会できたらいいなと思います。」
天野さん「一話を観て、こんなにも美しく動く姿がみられたことに感動しています。ウィルの人間味や、異端児と言われるほどの強さとのギャップが魅力です。１話以降のウィルの成長も楽しみです。劇中の音楽も素晴らしくて、今後もどんな音楽が聴けるのか楽しみにしています。」
水中さん「見どころはたくさんありますが、第一にウィルがとても魅力的です。見てて飽きないですし、応援したくなってきます。周りのキャラクターたちの変化も楽しみにしてほしいです。最後まで応援してください。」
