The ending theme song for the currently airing TV anime “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3” depicts Rimuru, who has become a demon lord, confronting the various difficulties that come his way as he aims for the “Human and Demon Co-Prosperity Sphere”. While expressing this, it is also a refreshing cheer song that supports those who work hard towards their dreams. The coupling song “SUMMER JOY” was performed at the 1st live performance held in October 2023, and this is the first time it has been made into a sound source. The other song, “Heroine,” is a straightforward expression about the boy she likes that is sure to touch the hearts of listeners!
We asked Rin-chan to share her thoughts on the 1st anniversary of her debut, as well as the songs and music video for her 2nd single.
――Now that you have celebrated your 1st anniversary since your solo debut, please tell us your thoughts and any memorable events that have left an impression on you.
Rin Kurusu (hereinafter referred to as Kurusu): I started to enjoy singing the songs I wanted to sing and standing on stage alone.
Also, I’m really happy that the fans have started to shout out to us at the mini-lives at release events as the events go on.
–The second single is the ending theme song for the TV anime “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3.” Please tell us your impressions of the anime and your favorite character.
Kurusu: I think this is a very heart-warming work where Rimuru treats everyone with love and the country grows bigger and bigger. My favorite character is Milim.
――“Believer” has a refreshing orchestra and singing voice, and lyrics such as “misplaced button” and “this endless feeling has always felt lonely somewhere” are Rimuru aiming for a “human and demon co-prosperity sphere” It is a song of encouragement to those who work hard towards their dreams, as well as the feelings and circumstances of the song.
Kurusu: There are surprisingly few sounds, but after listening to the lyrics that focus on the future and the sparkling sounds, I feel energized. And even though the lyrics are a bit negative, I think it’s appealing that they gently come close to you and affirm you.
–Please tell us about what you were conscious of when recording “Believer”, your favorite phrases, and highlights.
Kurusu: I didn’t use too much technique or tone of voice, I just sang naturally so that the lyrics would reach me straight.
–The MV for “Believer” is an interesting MV where you can see Rin-chan drawing manga and how many Rin-chans appear in one scene. Please tell us about the concept and shooting process, as well as the story behind the shooting process.
Kurusu: It was a story about a girl who works hard as a manga artist. There’s a scene where she falls asleep, and she actually fell asleep during filming, and before I knew it, the filming was over.
