Spring anime “Jellyfish Can’t Swim at Night” Series No. 6: Sumire Uesaka, who plays Miko | What was the most impressive line in episode 6?Original TV anime “Jellyfish Can’t Swim at Night”. Director: Ryohei Takeshita x Screenplay: Yuuki Yaku x Animation Production: A youth group drama presented by Douga Studio.

In episode 6, Miko, a 31-year-old divorced idol who has been an idol for 14 years and has a child, is too cute.

In the 6th installment of the series, we asked Sumire Uesaka, who plays the role of Shizue Baba/Miko, the super idol for the galaxy’s strongest idol aspiring Ari Eriku, to talk about the charm of Miko.

–In episode 6, it was revealed that Miko had a daughter, and the impression of the character changed significantly. Personally, I have become a fan of Miko, but please tell me what you think is the charm of Miko.

Uesaka: Miko is a character whose impression changes completely when you learn about her life! I think it’s really cool how she thoroughly enjoys what she wants to do and pursues it without being influenced by other people’s evaluations. I’m sure it becomes more difficult for her to believe in her own power and to love herself properly as she grows up, but she has the power to blow away all of her misgivings. You have the strength to give it to me!

–I’m sure there are many aspects of her, such as when she appeared in the first episode, when she was an idol, and when she was a mother, but please tell me what you focused on when playing the role.

Uesaka: In his first appearance, I played a close-up of his selfish and self-centered attitude, which made him seem like a bit of an unpleasant guy. In the parent-child scene with Ari Eru, her daughter is just so cute! really like! There’s a lot of that feeling, and it’s wonderful to have a sister-like atmosphere that feels like friends. I think Miko’s motto is “Do what you want to do without cutting corners, do it with all your might, and enjoy it to the fullest”!

–This work has many memorable characters, but if there are any that you feel sympathy for, please let us know.

Uesaka: I think Miko is a character that you can empathize with, or rather, resonate with a lot. She is one year different in age from me! (lol). She wants to live happily ever after, doing what she likes and wearing cute clothes! I feel this way myself, so I’m encouraged by Miko’s ability to express this out loud to the whole world.
