A boy runs away and becomes a hero –
the story of a boy that begins with the fall of the Kamakura Shogunate
The hugely popular historical spectacle manga currently being serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, drawn by Matsui Yusei, the creator of Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro and Assassination Classroom, is finally being made into an anime!
After the fall of the Kamakura Shogunate, Hojo Tokiyuki, the sole survivor of the Hojo clan, runs through a turbulent world! Animation will be produced by CloverWorks, known for such works as SPY×FAMILY, with director Yamazaki Yuuta, assistant director of Wonder Egg Priority, series composition by Tomita Yoriko, known for her work on My Dress-Up Doll, and character design by Nishitani Yasushi, chief animation director of Pokémon the Movie: Coco. This team of talented people will weave a slice of history with beautiful and powerful images!
The year is 1333. The Kamakura Shogunate, which had laid the foundation for samurai rule in Japan, was destroyed by a rebellion by a trusted vassal of the Shogun, Ashikaga Takauji.
Hojo Tokiyuki, the legitimate successor to the shogunate, had lost everything and was thrown into the depths of despair, but he escaped from burning Kamakura with the help of Suwa Yorishige, a priest who claimed to be a god…
After fleeing to Suwa, Tokiyuki meets trustworthy allies and gathers the strength to retake Kamakura. He overcomes the great waves of the changing times by “fleeing” and “living,” as opposed to the samurai’s way of life of “fighting” and “dying.”
What will be the outcome of this game of tag that will see Tokiyuki regain control of the world in a turbulent era filled with heroes?
