Director Tatsuyuki Nagasaki and the three main characters, Nagase Ren (as Aki), Bando Ryuta (as Ryo), and Maeda Kentaro (as Yuta), have reunited for the film.
Sarutoki Minagawa (who plays “Wakida”) and Kenjiro Tsuda (who plays “Shimada”) also came to the event to celebrate the release of this fall’s most moving film.
“Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day” (2011, 2013), “The Anthem of the Heart” (2015), and “Her Blue Sky” (2019) are the “Youth Trilogy” that moved 2 million people to tears. The latest original feature-length animation, “Touched” is a new venture from Nagai Tatsuyuki (director), Okada Mari (screenwriter), and Tanaka Masayoshi (character designer and chief animation director).
To celebrate the film’s release on Friday, October 4th, an opening day stage greeting was held! Director Nagai Tatsuyuki, main characters Nagase Ren (playing Onoda Aki), Bando Ryuta (playing Sobue Ryo), and Maeda Kentaro (playing Inohara Yuta) were also in attendance. In addition, Minagawa Sarutoki, who played Wakida-sensei, the teacher at the after-school care center where Aki, Ryo, and Yuta were students, and Tsuda Kenjiro, who played Shimada Kohei, the assistant teacher at Yuta’s class, also attended.
Director Nagai and six of the star-studded cast members appeared on stage as audiences from 102 theaters across the country watched via live broadcast!
The venue was filled with loud applause and cheers, heating up the venue in an instant. Director Nagai, Nagase, Bando, and Maeda thanked the audience and gave their greetings. Minagawa and Tsuda, who appeared on stage for the first time at an event for this film, also gave their greetings, celebrating the opening day.
At Tsuda’s words, Nagase staggered and said, “My legs just gave way (to Tsuda’s voice)…” In response, Minagawa greeted the audience in a voice that imitated Tsuda’s, causing laughter to spread throughout the venue.
Next, a video message has arrived from YOASOBI, who performed the theme song for this film, “Monotone”!
In the video, Ayase talks about the behind-the-scenes production of the song, saying, “I put a lot of my own memories and experiences into this song, and I made it in a way that linked it closely to the movie. It’s a song that I put a lot of feeling into.”
ikura celebrated the opening day of the film by saying, “This is my first time collaborating with a feature-length animated film, so I feel a lot of attachment to it and am very excited and happy. I have inherited Ayase’s thoughts and have also been able to put my own feelings into the song. Please go see the film ‘Touching’ at the theater as many times as you can!” Nagase commented, “I’m happy.”
In response, Bando said, “I’m really happy,” and Tsuda followed suit, saying, “I was really surprised. I’m so happy,” and the three of them responded in different voices, rejoicing at the message filled with feelings for the theme song.
Next up was a talk session about the film’s release day! Director Nagai said, “I had been wondering when I would be able to say (when it would be released), but now that it’s been released, I feel really relieved and happy.” He talked about his current feelings on the release day.
Furthermore, when asked about the appeal of this work, which he feels because he was involved in it from the audition to the release, Nagase commented, “With the development of convenient things like social media, I feel that the ability to communicate with loved ones in our own words has become less common. I think that (through this work) it has the appeal of gently admonishing you while making you keenly aware of the importance of communicating.” He touched on “communication,” one of the themes of the film.
Bando said, “When I first read the script, the faces of all the people I’ve been involved with, people who have helped me, my dear friends, and my classmates from school came to mind. I did my best to link myself to the character of Ryo and make him a lively character, so I hope it will be a work that “touches” everyone’s hearts.” He explained that one of the appeals of the work is that it provides an opportunity to reflect on relationships with people.
Maeda commented, “I think everyone has had worries about their relationships with others at some point, but this work features many different characters who all have different feelings, so I think it’s a work that you can empathize with. I think after watching it, you’ll want to express your gratitude to the people you care about, so I would recommend it to anyone who is having worries about something.”
Regarding his impressions of the completed film, Tsuda said, “There are some parts that really pierce my heart, but also show hope. I think it’s a film worth seeing now.”
オーディションで本作の役柄を手にしたメインキャスト3人の声の演技に対し「（３人が演じたキャラクターは）ずっと仲良くやってきたけど違う道を歩んでいて、全然個性も違う。でも、それぞれに揺れている部分があって、それを等身大で演じてられているのが、こちらにも生っぽく伝わってきて。３人がイライラしているときはイライラするし、解放されていくときは解放されるし、楽しいときは楽しくなれる、すごく応援したくなる3人だなと思いました。」と、声優経験も長く、俳優としても活躍する津田だからこそ気づく、観客にも感情が伝わってくる彼らの演技を大絶賛し、永瀬は「こころにふれてくるな」と嬉しさをにじませた。
また、本作でアニメーション声優デビューを果たした皆川は、今回のオファーを受けた時の気持ちについて「53歳ですけど、 やっぱり年をとっても初めてのことってあるんだなと。すごく嬉しかったですけど、すごくドキドキしましたよ。」と振り返り、長井監督は皆川とのアフレコ現場でのやりとりについて、「いきなり酔っぱらいの芝居を全力でやっていただきました（笑）（皆川さんに）1番最初に収録をしていただいて、場の空気を温めてくださいました。」と話した。
続いて、本作のマスコットキャラクターで不思議な生き物「ふれる」にまつわるトークへ！
テレパシーにも似た力で趣味も性格も違う秋たち３人を結び付けていた「ふれる」が実際にいたとしたら、どんな時に「ふれる」の力を使いたいか？という質問に対し、永瀬は「今見てくださった方たちと全員でスクラムを組んで、ふれ合って、皆さんの生の声を聞きたいですね。」と話し、坂東と前田は「動物と話したい」と、実家の愛犬の名前も明かしながらまさかの一致！
皆川は「10人以上とかで居酒屋に行った時の最初のドリンクの注文で使いたい。」と答えると、登壇者は大爆笑しつつも全員納得（笑）。
長井監督は「作品の打ち合わせとかは全部一瞬で終わるんで。イメージが全部伝わってめちゃめちゃ早そうですね。」と話し、本作のテーマの一つである“コミュニケーション”とそれぞれの日常が垣間見えるトークに会場全体も大いに盛り上がった。
最後は、公開初日を記念して制作された＜映画『ふれる。』特製くす玉＞が舞台に登場！
劇中に登場する意味深な“糸”３本が繋がっている青色のくす玉。永瀬の「今日から公開ということで、1人でもたくさんの方々に届きますように。皆さん、今日から（映画『ふれる。』に）ふれてね！！！」とコメントし、永瀬・坂東・前田それぞれが糸を一斉に引くと、「ふれる。（祝）公開。」というメッセージ入りの垂れ幕と銀の糸、紙吹雪が散らばり、劇中のファンタジーなワンシーンのような華やかな演出に、会場は歓声と拍手で大盛り上がり！
最後、登壇者を代表して永瀬は「今日見てくださった皆さんが受け取った気持ちや感動を大切な人や友達に伝えていただき、皆さんでその感動を共有していただけたらなと思います。たくさんの方々に『ふれる。』という作品を愛していただけますと幸いです。」とコメント、
長井監督は「この作品にこんな素敵なキャストにも集まっていただいて、 とても幸せな作品になったと思います。皆様のこころに何かしらふれるものがあればと思います。」とメッセージを送り、舞台挨拶を締めくくった。
