Natsume's Book of Friends'' is an ayakashi contract bizarre story based on the manga by Yuki Midorikawa, which was published as a one-shot in the July 2003 issue of LaLaDX” and is currently being serialized in LaLa.'' Natsume Takashi, a boy who can see monsters, has been chased by monsters ever since he inherited his grandmother's Book of Friends.” The story depicts a person who spends his days giving back his name to the monsters who have been tied up.

The TV anime began airing in 2008 with the first season, and has since developed into a long series unlike any other late-night anime. In September 2018, a theatrical version depicting the series’ first full-length original episode was also released. Furthermore, in January 2021, two short episodes that are popular with fans were screened for a limited time in theaters, and the series has continued to be made into a movie. The seventh season of “Natsume Yujincho Urushi” is scheduled to begin airing in the fall of 2024.
