Here, we asked Kento Ono, who plays Shinji Yoshimatsu, to look back on the first movie and talk about his enthusiasm for the second movie.
ーーIt has been about a year and a half since you played Licorice Recoil, but please tell us how you felt when it was decided that you would be starring in a sequel/continuation.
Kento Ono (hereinafter referred to as Ono) who plays Shinji Yoshimatsu: I’ve been waiting, I’ve been waiting! I was looking forward to it because it’s my favorite work (lol). I was so happy. Moreover, everyone is continuing to play, so I’m happy about that. I feel the same way as you!
ーーHow do you feel looking back on your last performance? Please tell us your impressions of the performances at that time, and any memorable episodes or events that remain in your memory.
Ono: The number of customers increased with each performance, and those days were memorable because it’s rare to be able to perform to a packed house every day. The episode is about the creation of Pan○man, and it’s a daily story (lol).
–Please tell us about what you enjoyed and what was difficult about playing your role in the last performance.
Ono: It’s not a role that gives me a lot of freedom, but I’m glad that I was able to create the role of “Shinji Yoshimatsu” that can only be played on stage through daily rehearsals. I think his age is obviously about 10 years older than my actual age, so I had a hard time trying to capture his behavior.
–This work will feature serious developments and intense action, so please tell us about your enthusiasm for the role, such as what you are thinking about and what you are looking forward to.
Ono: “Genius is a gift from God, and it must be delivered to the world. An unparalleled killing genius.”
I said this line last time, but I want to play Shinji in a way that suits him better.
–Please give a message to the fans who are looking forward to your performances starting in June.
Ono: I don’t know if there will be Shinji Yoshimatsu like last time, but I’m sure it will be an interesting work. I’ve watched the anime three times and it’s still interesting no matter how many times I watch it. In addition to the power of the original work, the strongest actors Chizoku and Takina will be on stage, so please come and enjoy the show with confidence (lol).
