The first part, “Lycorice Recoil”, which was performed in January last year and received great acclaim, had many people looking forward to the second part, as it did not depict the end of the anime. I wonder if there is?
Here, we asked Hiroki Nakata, who plays Majima, to look back on the first movie and talk about his enthusiasm for the second movie.
ーーIt has been about a year and a half since you played Licorice Recoil, but please tell us how you felt when it was decided that you would be starring in a sequel/continuation.
Hiroki Nakada (hereinafter referred to as Nakada), who plays Mashima: There was talk of a sequel when I received the offer for the premiere, so I couldn’t wait for the second part. I think the second part of this film will be heavier in many ways than the previous one, so I want to face my role properly.
ーーHow do you feel looking back on your last performance? Please tell us your impressions of the performances at that time, and any memorable episodes or events that remain in your memory.
Nakata: Majima is very particular about his balance, and there was a scene in the movie where he said his lines while holding multiple cell phones on his fingers, and I was so scared that he was going to drop them every time (lol). I’ll do my best to keep the balance in the second part as well!
–Please tell us about what you enjoyed and what was difficult about playing your role in the last performance.
Nakata: Playing the role of Majima, who is so far removed from my usual personality, was both fun and difficult at the same time.
–This work will feature serious developments and intense action, so please tell us about your enthusiasm for the role, such as what you are thinking about and what you are looking forward to.
Nakata: I want to embody “realism” while respecting the original work and anime. I want to live my role in a way that makes the viewers think that if Majima existed in real life, he would be like this. In the second half, there may be some acrobatic movements in the action, so I’d like to prepare my body well before practicing.
–Please give a message to the fans who are looking forward to your performances starting in June.
Nakata: Thank you for waiting. It has been about a year and a half since the first performance, but the entire audience will continue to work together to deliver the world of Rico Rico, which has been even more powerful as we approach the climax, without letting up the enthusiasm we had back then.
