The protagonist is Ren Tachibana, who inherited his late grandfather’s flower shop, Misakigaoka Flower Shop. The somewhat shy Ren struggles to reopen the Misakigaoka Flower Shop together with his childhood friend Shion Izuki, the famous streamer Kyousuke Hinata, and his cousin Sakura Tachibana.
This time, we interviewed Junya Komatsu, who plays Ren Tachibana, Yuki Nakayama, who plays Shion Izuki, Akira Momonari, who plays Kyousuke Hinata, and Ryusei Kitade, who plays Sakura Tachibana, who have just finished filming! We asked them about the work, of course, but also about the relationship between the four good friends, and about things related to flowers.
–Today we’re talking to you all after the shoot, so you’re all still in costume, but you’re all real florists, aren’t you?
Komatsu: That’s right. I basically wore this costume throughout the shoot.
Momonari: When you think of a florist, this is the costume that comes to mind.
Kitade: Everyone’s great (laughs).
–Sakura is wearing an apron over her high school uniform.
Kitade: That’s right. There’s one person who’s different.
Momonari: But it’s cute!
Kitade: Thank you…
Komatsu: You seem dissatisfied (laughs).
Kitade: (laughs) Although Sakura doesn’t dress like a florist, she can arrange flowers.
Momonari: Ah, Kyosuke is wearing an employee-like uniform, but he can’t arrange things. He can’t do anything at all, can he? (laughs)
Nakayama: All I do is clean (laughs).
Momonari: Yes! While everyone else was working, I was just cleaning or admiring the flowers (laughs).
–Kyousuke is a mood maker after all.
Momonari: That’s right! I’m here as an entertainment staff member (laughs).
–What did you feel when you heard about the cast again this time?
Komatsu: I’ve worked with everyone in the past. I worked with Yuki in a reading play a while ago, and with Ryusei in a drama. I met Ei in about 2016, and we worked together in a stage series for about two years.
Momonari: It happened last year too.
Komatsu: That’s right. We’re all familiar with each other. Because of that, I felt very encouraged and it seemed like it would be a fun shoot. Also, this was the first time we did a short drama. What did you all think?
Nakayama, Momonari, Kitade: First time!
Komatsu: That’s right. Before filming began, I was curious about the filming environment and how the story would be structured. Aside from the fact that there were a lot of lines, I was excited (laughs).
Staff: Sorry…
Komatsu: I’m just kidding! (laughs)
Momonari: Having a lot of lines is one of the greatest joys of being an actor (laughs).
Komatsu: Sometimes there were parts where I thought, “Oh, I need to remember this part properly”… But I really had a great time.
Nakayama: It was my first time meeting Ei, but he was a very frank person and easy to get along with. Maybe because of that, the atmosphere on set was always bright. Even though we were on a tight three-day schedule, we were all able to cooperate cheerfully, so I feel like the three of us are comrades.
──I watched a little bit of the recording and got the impression that you all really get along well.
Nakayama: But we all only got together three days before filming ended (laughs).
Komatsu: It’s unbelievable.
Momonari: It feels like we’ve just finished a long-running play (laughs).
Kitade: The sense of accomplishment is amazing!
Komatsu: But I had a feeling it would turn out like this. When I did a drama with Ryusei before, we had a tight schedule and I was almost always staying overnight, so I didn’t even have time to sleep.
Kitade: That’s right. But I remember going to Jun’s room and calling out to him, “Jun, Jun, Jun!” (laughs).
Komatsu: To that, I said, “I’ll memorize my lines, so please wait a moment!” But it gradually started to get fun and I put the script down, but I was like, “No, no, that’s not okay!” (laughs). Because of that, I thought I might be able to get along with everyone during this shoot.
Momonari: I was only acquainted with Junya, but we became good friends, so much so that I wondered if we had been together all that time. To be honest, I was a bit nervous at first because the schedule was so tight and the atmosphere was tense, but that anxiety disappeared on the first day (laughs).
Kitade: I’ve worked with Jun-kun and Yuki-san before, but this was my first time with Ei. We first met at a meeting, then at the station, and we became good friends. We were often together because of our roles.
百成：そうそう、そんなこともあったね！
──みなさんは初めてのショートドラマということですが、そもそもショートドラマが流行っていることはご存知でしたか？
小松：流行ってるらしいですね。
百成：ニュースでも取り上げられていましたよ。今後すごい伸びていって、5年後には何兆円かの規模になるって。
小松：ちょっと流行ると思いませんでしたか？ 最近はYouTubeとかNetflixを倍速で見る人が多いですし。世の中、みんな生き急いでいるんですよ。
一同：（笑）
百成：音楽にしても、今の若者はイントロを切っちゃうらしいですからね。
小松：そうそう。でも簡潔にまとめる形として良いんじゃないかなと思いました。ただ、ショートドラマとはいえ、次の展開にワクワクしないと視聴者は避けちゃうんですよね。僕らのお芝居だって空気感を一瞬で判断されちゃうんです。そういった意味でも、短い時間で視聴者に引っかかるような空気感になっていたら良いなと思っています。
百成：最初のほうで食いついてもらわないといけないからね。すごく勉強になりそうだなと思ったんですよね。
──お話にもありましたが、若い世代を中心に幅広い世代に楽しんでもらえそうですね。
百成：Z世代はどんな反応をするんでしょうね。流星はZ世代じゃない？
北出：ギリギリ入ってるかもしれないです。僕はショートドラマをあまり見たことがないんですけど、なにかの作業中とかに流すのも良いんじゃないかなって思いました。
──会話が多いからラジオドラマみたいに楽しめるかもしれませんね。
北出：そうなんですよね。今の若い世代に合った作品なんじゃないかな。
百成：さっきみんなと話したんですけど、ショートドラマだからこそ、ということは特になかったんですよね。
一同：たしかに。
百成：とはいえ、序盤でお客さんの心を掴まないといけないので、普通のドラマとは少し構成が違っていたりします。撮影しながら完成したらどうなるのか気になっていました。
北出：撮り終えてから結構後悔しませんでしたか？ ここはこうしたほうが良かったんじゃないか？と。
百成：ひとつのシーンの結果を先に撮るところもあったからね。
北出：そうなんです。撮り直したいなと思ったところがいくつかあったんですよね。
──今回、撮り直しはありましたか？
百成：NGは……僕が最後に沼ったくらいです（笑）。テストのNGは多かったよね。台詞を間違えて笑っちゃったり（笑）。でも本番になるとバチッと決まって、予定より早く収録が終わりました。
北出：みんなで「巻こう！」って一丸となりましたよね（笑）。
百成：押したら寝れないぞ、ってね（笑）。
一同：（笑）
北出：休憩も取らずに頑張りました。
小松：みんな協力的だったよね。大人たちが全力で動いてくれました（笑）。
中山：スタッフさんたちがスケジュールを逐一調整してくれていて。
百成：あれはかっこ良かった。
──撮影環境的にもショートドラマだからこその特別な違いはなかったのですね。
百成：撮影にスマホを使ったくらいですかね。特別、ショートドラマだからということはなかったですね。
