The film is titled “Senpai wa Otoko no Ko Ame no Chi Hare” and will be released on Friday, February 14, 2025. It will be a continuation of the story depicted in the TV series.
Along with this announcement, a teaser visual and PV were released.
“Senpai wa Otoko no Ko” (by Pomu) is an original webtoon from “LINE Manga”. After being submitted to the manga submission service “LINE Manga Indies”, it began a trial serialization on “LINE Manga” in December 2019, and with overwhelming support from readers it was promoted to a full serialization as a “LINE Manga Indies+” label work.
It won third place in the Web Manga category of the Next Manga Awards 2021 and first place in the 5th AnimeJapan 2022 Manga Ranking to Be Adapted into Animates, and has become a hugely popular work that is distributed in seven languages around the world in addition to Japanese.
Additionally, “LINE Manga” is currently serializing “The Encounter Arc” (starting from chapter 101), which depicts the prequel to the main story, which was once completed.
“LINE Manga” is a digital comic service that allows users to easily enjoy manga works on smartphones and tablets. It is available in the Japanese market as part of “WEBTOON Worldwide Service,” a consortium of platform services that boasts the overwhelming number one scale in the market, with over 166.3 million monthly users globally (as of the end of June 2024).
The service began in Japan in 2013 and has continued to grow, currently ranking first in the number of cumulative downloads of manga apps in Japan. The service also offers a wide range of original works, exclusive works, and pre-release works, and has gained widespread support. The service also focuses on “webtoons,” digital comics that are vertically scrolled from top to bottom and in color, making them suitable for viewing on smart devices.
