On the day, a stage greeting was held at Shinjuku Piccadilly, where three voice actors, including Soichiro Hoshi, who plays Kira Yamato, and Director Mitsuo Fukuda appeared on stage. This was the first time that Kotono Mitsuishi, who plays Murrue Ramius, and Houko Kuwashima, who plays Agnes Giebenrath, participated in an event for this work.
As the speakers entered the venue, Hoshi began by greeting everyone. Mitsuishi, who took the baton from Hoshi, talked about how in addition to Murrue, she also voiced Ezalia, Yzac Jules’ mother, and a friend of Frey Allster, who appears in the first episode of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
Next, Kuwashima shared her impressions of watching Kira in the film as Flay. She was annoyed by the whining parts, but said it was good that he didn’t give in to Agnes’ orders. Next, as Natarle Badgiruel, she spoke of how she felt that Murrue’s line, “Tactical Badgiruel,” made her feel happy that he hadn’t forgotten Natarle. According to Director Fukuda, this line wasn’t originally in the script, but was added at the storyboard stage. She then took turns playing four characters, including Stella Louche and Agnes, and the fans at the venue were blown away.
Director Fukuda said that he made many corrections to this special edition. Apparently there were some parts that couldn’t be completed due to a time limit at the time of release, but because the film was a hit, they were given a budget and were able to make more extensive corrections than when it was released on regular video software. Even on a first watch, you’ll be able to tell at least 20 of the improved parts, so be sure to check it out carefully when you go to the theater.
Moving on to the talk section, they delved deeper into Hoshi’s declaration during the final stage greeting that the film was not over yet. It turned out exactly as he had declared, but Hoshi pointed out that the film was still continuing with the support screenings and other events, and that the film would start anew with the special edition, so the excitement for the film would likely continue for a while longer.
We asked Mitsuishi and Kuwashima about their impressions of seeing the huge excitement surrounding this film. Mitsuishi said that she had noticed the excitement, but the numbers were so big that it didn’t really register with her. Kuwashima mentioned that there were people who had watched the film over and over again, and seemed astonished by the enthusiasm of the fans.
ここで福田監督から、アグネスの扱いについての裏話が飛び出しました。当初はシュラ・サーペンタインによって殺されてしまう展開だったそうで、桑島さんにも事前に伝わっていた模様。しかしシュラがアスラン・ザラに手ひどく敗北することから、アグネスにシリアス展開を入れられず生存することになったそうです。
生存したため、この先も何か物語が続いた場合はアグネス役として出演できることとなった桑島さん。その点が話題になると、三石さんからマリューが女性としてアグネスに色々と教えましょうとトークが展開。桑島さんもアグネスはいい大人と巡りあっていなかったからあのような性格になったのかもしれないとある種の納得があったようで、今後はアグネスがマリューの弟子になる展望ができたと語っていました。
続いての話題は気になるキャラクターについて。三石さんはブラックナイツの面々の普段の姿が気になったほか、アスランとメイリンの恋愛が絡まない仕事上のパートナーという関係も気になった様子。
保志さんはマリューと三石さんをダブらせてしまうところがあり、味方に居てくれる安心感があるとコメント。アグネスについては桑島さんとまた『ガンダムSEED』で新たに掛け合えたことに感慨があったようで、彼女がキラに迫ったシーンについて問われた際はまた役としてぶつかってきてくれたこと自体は嬉しかったと話していました。
そんなアグネスについては福田監督からフレイの要素があると言われていたそうですが、桑島さんは毎回与えられた役を演じることで精一杯だと話してくれました。その要素は計算して出るものじゃないため、自分の声だからこそそういった印象を与えられると期待して演じるしかないと考えていたのだとか。
その後、保志さんから『機動戦士ガンダムSEED』最終回におけるキラとフレイの別れのシーンが話題に上りました。あのシーンのフレイの声はキラには聞こえていない切ない場面だそうなのですが、それでもあそこで救われた、仲直りできたと感じていたとのこと。
そして、改めて福田監督にアップデートされたシーンについて伺うことに。メカシーンをよくアップデートしていたそうで、フリーダムもジャスティスもデスティニーも変わっているとのこと。エピローグカットについてはおまけ要素であり、元々4分くらいあるものをさらに圧縮しているそうです。
この話の流れで保志さんが収録に参加していることが明らかになってしまうハプニングがありましたが、その中で11月の第2弾は鋭意制作中であり福田監督から次は破廉恥な奴かもしれないとの気になる発言も……!?
マスコミ向けのフォトセッションの後、最後に保志さんと福田監督からメッセージがありました。保志さんは三石さんとこういった舞台挨拶に登壇するのが初めてだと述べると、そんな貴重な機会を得られた喜びを露わに。そして、これからも作品の応援をよろしくお願いしますとコメント。
福田監督はロングランヒットとなった感謝をファンのみなさんに述べると、何らかの数字が残るということは本作に関わった人たちにとっては次に繋がるいい機会になったのではと話しました。また、鑑賞したファンのみなさんが幸せになってくれたのも喜ばしく、制作するからにはみんなが幸せになってほしいとの願いを込めていたことも明かしてくれました。
遂に特別版の第1弾が公開となった本作。およそ500カットものアップデートと新たに追加されたエピローグカットを確かめるためにも、ぜひ今一度劇場に足を運んでみてはいかがでしょうか。
