Animate Times interviewed the main cast members in conjunction with the broadcast. In the second instalment, we spoke to Akao Hikaru, who plays the heroine Atori, about the series.
In the second episode, we mainly talked about the dialogue between Akao and the main character, Ikaruga Natsuo, who was voiced by Ono Kensho for the anime adaptation. Akao also talked about his favorite scenes with Natsuo, so please use this as a reference when watching episodes 2 and beyond.
–Finally, the first episode of the anime “ATRI-My Dear Moments-” has aired. How do you feel right now?
Akao: I’m incredibly happy. Since there is an original work, I think fans of the game were able to enjoy the world of this work in various ways, such as seeing Atoli moving in the anime. I think there were new discoveries in the world submerged in the sea being depicted in the anime.
I also think that turning it into an anime has allowed this work to reach even more people. Those who watch the anime first are drawn to the worldview of this beautiful world, with so many sad feelings floating around here and there… I get excited thinking about that.
I would be happy if you would watch the anime before playing the game, and I hope you will continue to watch from episode 2 onwards.
–The original game seems quite easy to play.
Akao: That’s right. It’s a visual novel, so you can probably complete it in about 10 hours. The CG is also very beautiful, so I definitely recommend you try it.
–What did you think when you saw the anime broadcast?
Akao: I was really excited and happy. I was really impressed by the sparkle of the ocean in the background and how Atori’s ruby-like eyes, which are her charm point, are not just red but have a transparent gradation. I want to watch it over and over again.
Moe Mizuna and Catherine were both cute, and Natsuo was wonderful. I’m sure the staff carefully decided on each character’s hair color. I was also impressed by the unique touch of the anime, which is different from the CG in the game. I just wanted to keep looking at the characters.
――今回のアニメから主人公・斑鳩夏生にも声が付きました。小野賢章さん演じる夏生の印象や掛け合ってみた感想もお願いします。
赤尾：まさに夏生さんだなと。キャラクターの印象としては変わらず、しっくりきました。夏生さんの知的な印象に優しい声が加わっていたので、海に沈みゆく世界というしっとりとした世界観を、元気なアトリからだけでなく夏生さんの声からも再認識できました。
――夏生と掛け合うシーンで気に入っているシーンはありますか？
赤尾：はい、もちろんあります。夏生さんがアトリに笑顔を教えるシーンがあるのですが、そこで初めて笑顔を見せてくれるんです。そのシーンの夏生さんがとても可愛らしくて、一緒にお芝居するのが楽しいなって思いました。
――では夏生との掛け合いを演じる際にどんなことを意識していますか？
赤尾：4年前に演じたセリフというのもあり、迷いなく元気に自信たっぷり言わせてもらっています。コミカルなシーンだと「このアドリブ大丈夫かな？」と不安になることもありましたが、マイク前に立ったら一気にやるぞと気合が入りました。不安があっても全力でやったらOKになることもあるし、全力でやったからこそ違うパターンもやってみようとなるので、とにかくエネルギー全開で演じることを念頭に置いていました。
アトリと夏生は次回第2話あたりからよく会話するようになるのですが、元々ゲームのアトリの存在は自分の中にあったので、アフレコでは小野さん演じる夏生さんの声を聞かなければと考えていました。私は小野さんのお隣のマイクで演じさせていただいていまして、その存在を感じるべく、夏生さんとの重要なシーンや私が焦りそうな場面では、小野さんの喋るペースや息遣いも把握できるようにしています。
赤尾：アトリとしては、夏生さんがアトリに感情があるのではないか？と思い始めるところでしょうか。本当に彼女に感情があるのかどうか。現在収録は中盤を過ぎたあたりなのですが、アトリと夏生さんが心を通い合わせるようなシーンも楽しみです。
後は“カニ”ですかね。アトリと言えばという感じで、収録では海の中でブクブクしながら「カニー！」と言うシーンを演じました。
――ロボットでありながらアトリは感情豊かなように見えます。演じる際に苦労があったのでしょうか？
赤尾：無感情なアトリをアニメとして演じるのはこれからなのですが、ゲーム収録の頃は無表情な感じが得意だったので、1発OKになることも多かったです。抑揚を無くしたり、冷たくするような演じ方をしていたと思います。「夏生さん！」と愛情たっぷりに元気なところから、それを無くしていく。かといって怖い体裁にならないような演技をしています。
――ありがとうございます。それでは今後に期待しているファンのみなさんへメッセージをお願いします。
赤尾：第2話からはさらに元気でコミカルな可愛いアトリだったり、夏生さんたちがこの世界にどう向き合うのか、目の前の問題をどう解決していくのかが描かれていきます。まだ登場していないキャラクターたちもいるので、今後はもっと賑やかになるはずです。そこでアトリがどんな反応をするのかも気になるところじゃないかなと。夏生さんやアトリの過去も少しずつ紐解かれていきますので、ぜひ楽しみにしていただけたら嬉しいです！
