The work, which has been a huge hit overseas and was produced by E&H Production, led by director Park Sung-hoo of “Jujutsu Kaisen,” will feature Tsuda Kenjiro and Nakamura Yuichi as cast members for its triumphant return to Japan. A promotional video was also released ahead of the broadcast, revealing that coldrain will also be performing the theme song.

“NINJA KAMUI” is an anime that depicts an original story of a runaway ninja, Higan, whose beloved family was killed, standing up against the darkness of his former organization and the country. The director is Park Sung-hoo, who has worked on “Jujutsu Kaisen (Season 1)”, “THE GOD OF HIGH SCHOOL”, and “GARO -VANISHING LINE-“, and the original character design is by Okazaki Noriyuki, who worked on “Ninja Batman”, and the series composition is by Murakoshi Shigeru, who worked on “Zombie Land Saga”.

Broadcasting and distribution began in North America in February 2024, and the high quality of the series drew amazement and praise from culture sites across the U.S. It was also one of the biggest hits on Cartoon Network, one of the world’s largest anime channels.

For the long-awaited broadcast in Japan, the voice of the main character Higan will be played by Tsuda Kenjiro, who has been active not only as a voice actor but also as an actor in recent years. He skillfully mixes pace to portray the main character, who witnesses his family being killed in front of his eyes, only to come back to life in the mortuary, and who confronts the underworld with anger and sadness in his heart. Nakamura Yuichi, who plays Gojo Satoru from “Jujutsu Kaisen” and Matsuno Karamatsu from “Osomatsu-san”, will play Zai, who once had a passionate friendship with Higan and his wife Mari, but is now feared as the “Grim Reaper”.

Other cast members include Atsushi Ono as Mike Morris, Yuki Wakai as Emma Samanda, Yurika Hino as Mari, Shinta Kimura as Ren, Ryumaru Tachibana as Joseph, Setsuji Sato as Lil, Romi Park as Jiri, Kosuke Sakaki as Big D, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Yamaji, and Takashi Nagatsuji as Jason. The theme song is a newly written song called “VENGEANCE” by coldrain, a loud rock band that made its world debut from Japan. Tsuda, Nakamura, and Masato from coldrain also commented.

The PV, which was released ahead of the broadcast, shows Higan wearing what appears to be a mask and burning with revenge, filled with grief and anger at the loss of his modest but happy life with his wife Mari and son Ren. Other scenes include someone hung upside down and burned to death, AUZA emerging as FBI agents Mike and Emma investigate Shinobu’s case, a hooded figure resembling Higan mowing down enemies one after another with a Japanese sword, and the angry voice of Higan shouting the name of Yamaji, the head of an organization he once belonged to. The finished product builds anticipation for the content.
