Summer anime “Tower of God Season 2” Yuuma Uchida, Taichi Ichikawa, and Sayumi Watanabe reveal the dubbing process! Advance screening reportOn June 23rd, the second season of the TV anime “Tower of God”, “Tower of God: Return of the Prince”, held an advance screening and talk show of episodes 1-4 at Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo.

Cast members Taichi Ichikawa, Yuuma Uchida, and Sayumi Watanabe appeared at the talk show. In the first half before the screening, they looked back on the first season and talked about the highlights of episodes 1 to 4 of the second season, and in the second half after the screening, they talked about what it was like during the dubbing, including spoilers.

During the first half of the talk before the screening, Uchida said, “It went by so quickly,” as this was his first appearance since “AnimeJapan 2024” in March. When Watanabe asked, “Is there anyone who came to the AnimeJapan stage?” many hands were raised, and the three smiled and said, “Thank you!” The screening was

originally scheduled to show episodes 1 to 3, but an extra episode was added, and episodes 1 to 4 were shown. Ichikawa, who had seen the comments on the official X (formerly Twitter) account, retorted, “They wrote, ‘Sorry for adding one more episode,’ but no, no, it’s the other way around! It feels like that!” and once again expressed his gratitude for being able to deliver the extra episode.

In the first half of the show, the first season was reviewed and the characters were introduced. In the 12th episode, the final episode of the first season, Ichikawa’s protagonist Yoru reunites with Rachel, but is pushed down. “Just when the two finally reunite and are about to walk together, they are unexpectedly betrayed. Yoru himself still has feelings of disbelief, and I wonder if it’s some kind of mistake,” Ichikawa said, touching on Yoru’s feelings. While it was

expected that the second season would depict what happened to the two, Uchida said, “I’m sorry,” drawing laughter from the audience when asked about the fact that Uchida’s character, Oono Sei, will become the main character. He was surprised by the development of the second season, but Ichikawa added, “In the first season, we depicted the story up to the second floor, but the second season is set on the 20th floor.” He called out, “Six years have passed. Look forward to seeing what happens next!” and received a big round of applause.

When introducing the character of Ohno Sei, Uchida said with a wry smile that he was intrigued by the phrase “covered in debt from loan sharks.” “It seems like there’s something going on behind the scenes, but basically he’s a really good character!” he said, and while he said that there’s nothing similar about him, he said that his energetic side is something he should emulate.

By the way, Uchida himself has never thought about becoming a king, but if he had to choose, he answered “Pirate King,” which made the audience burst into laughter. Ichikawa asked, “Is that answer okay?” and Watanabe retorted, “You’ll get a lot of scolding (laughs),” and he revealed that he actually admired his aides, not the king.

Watanabe also pointed out that there was a sentence in Renrika’s character description that bothered him. “It says she’s polite, but the next line says she’s short-tempered and foul-mouthed, which takes away from her good points!” he complained, making everyone laugh. Although she is an elite, they seem to have something in common when it comes to her clumsiness, and Watanabe said, “I think she’s clumsy because she’s messy.”

In addition, although her profile states “Hobby: Cooking,” she confessed, “It’s a pain to buy a single clove of garlic, so I use a garlic tube instead.” Uchida, who loves cooking, suggested, “Just peel a single clove of garlic! It has a different scent,” and overwrote his previous answer with, “I’m Uchida, the cooking king.” Ichikawa and Watanabe responded with, “Here we go!” and “As expected!”, causing the venue to erupt in laughter.

Ichikawa described Ju Violet Grace as “the type who doesn’t get too close to people.” He was especially conscious of the distance he kept from the other actors at the beginning of the recording, and shared an episode where Watanabe was surprised when he met him on another set and said, “You talk a lot!” Ichikawa also revealed his approach to playing the silent character Violet, adjusting the nuances of his emotions and lines.

At the end of the talk session, a mini project was also held, where participants were asked to express the key points of the anime with ◯◯!, and each participant tried to express something related to the characteristics of the character. Uchida expressed the first episode with “onomatopoeic words and mimetic words,” Watanabe with “English words” for the second episode, Ichikawa with “poses” for the third episode, and all participants expressed the fourth episode with “gestures.”

Uchida expressed the sound of slurping something, and Watanabe answered with “Ouch! followed by Self Introduction!”. Uchida liked Ichikawa’s powerful pose, and he made him repeat it from the front, facing himself, and backwards, and said with great satisfaction, “I was able to see it with three cameras,” which made the audience burst into laughter. The first half of the talk ended with a promise to reveal the answer to what the three participants were expressing, including their gestures, in the second half of the talk after the main screening.
