On Sunday, June 23rd, the opening ceremony for the commemorative exhibition “Rock Pillar Gyomei Himejima’s Rock-Pushing Training, Shibuya Place,” held just before the broadcast of the seventh episode, was held at Shibuya Modi.
In the currently airing TV anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Pillar Training Arc,” the pillar training has finally begun in the midst of improving the Demon Slayer Corps’ performance for the final battle with Kibutsuji Muzan.
In the sixth episode, which will air on Sunday, June 16th, Tanjiro and his friends will be tasked with pushing a large rock one cho (about 110 m) as part of the training imposed on them by Himejima.
The seventh and eighth episodes, which have been announced as the final episode, will be broadcast in a special extended time slot.
As the excitement continued to grow, it was decided to hold a commemorative exhibition titled “Rock Pillar Gyomei Himejima’s Rock-Pushing Training: Shibuya Place” at Shibuya Modi just before the broadcast of the seventh episode, and the opening ceremony was held.
At the Shibuya Modi 1F storefront plaza, a photo spot and art exhibit will be set up until tomorrow, Monday, June 24th, in honor of Himejima’s training. You can enjoy the exhibits that give you a better sense of the harshness of the training that Tanjiro and his friends are undergoing.
As anticipation grows around the world for the seventh and final episode, an event was held on the day of the broadcast of this memorable seventh episode, welcoming sumo wrestlers from the Futagoyama stable, Rougazeki, Souga, and the stable’s proprietress, who train hard every day.
Romagaseki immediately spoke with confidence, “Thank you for the introduction. I am Romagaseki from Futagoyama stable. We only have a short time together today, but let’s enjoy it!”, and Soga responded, “I am Soga from Futagoyama stable. Thank you for coming today despite the poor ground conditions.”
The proprietress also said, “I’m the proprietress of Futagoyama stable. Thank you for inviting the three of us to such an important event today. This is the first time for Futagoyama stable to appear at an anime event, so we were really looking forward to today!” She expressed her joy at being able to take part in the opening ceremony, and the venue was filled with a harmonious atmosphere.
The training to push a huge rock one cho (about 110 meters) away is extremely difficult even for Tanjiro and his friends. Regarding this training, Rogaseki and Soga each answered, “I don’t think I can push it right now (laughs), but I’ll practice and do my best!” (Rogaseki), and “Me too… I’m not confident that I can push it, so I’ll practice and do my best!” (Soga), but they successfully pushed the rock!
Just like the members of the Demon Slayer Corps, their daily training has paid off in the face of difficult challenges, and the audience erupted in applause.
Furthermore, linking it to the importance of repetitive movements that Tanjiro learned from Genya in order to move the rock, we asked Roga and Soga about the routines they follow before a match. Roga said, “I’m the type who gets really nervous, so I always take a deep breath before a match to calm myself down,” and Soga said, “When I enter the ring from the runway, I hit my chest several times to get myself fired up.” They each introduced their own routines, revealing the mental strength they employ to fight every day.
Finally, to encourage Tanjiro and the others as they trained to push and move a large rock, Omiya said, “Just like us, we will keep working hard at what we are doing now, practice and get stronger!”, Soga said, “I think your legs are important when pushing (a rock), so I hope you will strengthen them and do your best!”, and the proprietress also said, “I hope you will eat lots of rice balls and do your best!”. They all sent warm messages of encouragement, which created a great sense of unity in the venue.
The event ended with great success, and many fans enjoyed interacting with the wrestlers and the members of the corps. Please come and enjoy this exhibition at Shibuya Modi.
