In the fifth episode, we interview Sora Amemiya, who plays Kanade Hisaishi, a second-year euphonium player like Kumiko. A look back at episode 8, which was a shocking development for Kanade, and the movie version of “Sound!” that first appeared. They talked about the changes since Euphonium: Oath Finale'' (hereinafter referred to as Oath Finale”).
–In episode 8, Kanade is no longer included in the Kansai wind band competition. Please tell me how you feel now.
Sora Amemiya (hereinafter referred to as Amemiya): In the last scene, when the members were announced, Kanade ended up with a “huh?” expression, as if she hadn’t yet accepted the reality, so as someone who plays Kanade, It was very painful.
Ever since the third season started and a new character named Mayu (Kuroe) was introduced, the disturbing atmosphere has continued. Kanade was also attached to Mayu the most, and I thought that something would happen in the future among Eufo (members in charge), but… that became a reality, or rather, I was like, “Ah, Kanade… I’ll be removed from the membership.” Given the timing, it is a difficult development.
――Since Kanade was a first year student, he was better at playing the euphonium than Natsuki Nakagawa, a third year student at the time, and was included in the tournament squad, so it was a surprising turn of events.
Amemiya: Kanade has been appearing since “Finale of the Vow,” but after the “Uncontained Edition” (“Special Edition Sound! Euphonium ~Ensemble Contest~”), the relationship between the current second and third year students is pretty good. I think it was in a stable condition. However, in this series, problems occur one after another that overturn all of that, and it’s always a thrilling feeling.
――How has your impression of Kanade changed between the time when Kanade first appeared in “Oath of Finale” and this work? Also, has there been any change in what he is conscious of when acting?
雨宮：『誓いのフィナーレ』のときは、「警戒心の強い野良猫をお家に連れて来た」みたいな感じで（笑）。誰かに対して、すごく攻撃的だったりするわけではないけれど、常に周りを警戒して、誰にも心を開いていないという印象が強かったです。でも、『誓いのフィナーレ』のラストの方で、結果的に本音をすべて久美子にぶつけて、それを受け止めてもらえた。その後の『アンコン編』も挟んで、奏のやり方で、ではあるんですが、ちゃんと環境にも慣れてきたというか。3期では、すごく素直になった印象です。
――奏は自分のことを「可愛い」と言いますが、今期の奏は本当に可愛いと思います。
雨宮：そうですよね。あと、これは私の意識していることでもあるんですが、『誓いのフィナーレ』のときは、全員に対して警戒していたから、人との距離感も全員同じ感じだったんです。でも今回のシリーズでは、人によって距離感がちゃんと違う。本来彼女は、けっこう好き嫌いがはっきりしているみたいなのですが、それをしっかり出すようになったなと、すごく感じます。特に真由の登場によって、それが露骨になったと思うんですけど（笑）。
――真由が入部したときから、明らかに警戒しています。
雨宮：奏は「腹黒」と言われがちなんですが、表現方法がちょっと独特というか、ふわっとしながらチクッと刺すみたいな感じだから腹黒に見えるだけで。今はもう感情を隠していないので、けっこう素直な子だと私は思っています。
――では逆に、『誓いのフィナーレ』のときから変わらないところは、どのようなところだと思いますか？
雨宮：3期でも多いのですが、何かを言うとき、そのまままっすぐ伝えるのではなく、ニヤニヤして、相手を少しからかいながら言うのが奏の個性というか表現方法だと思っていて。そのテンション感は、すごく大事にしています。
――奏に関して、特に印象的なディレクションがあれば教えてください。
雨宮：（ディレクションは）あまり無かったんですよね。『誓いのフィナーレ』は、かなり前なので、私がはっきり覚えていないこともあるかもしれませんが、『アンコン編』と今回のシリーズに関しては、本当に全然ありませんでした。
――例えば、第1話の収録前に「2年生になった奏は、こういう方向で」といった指示もなかったのですか？
雨宮：はい。どちらかというと、やっぱり真由や久美子たちに関するお話が多かったと思います。でも例えば、表現方法でどっちかで迷ったら、可愛い方にする。奏の自他共に認める可愛さは、しっかり残していこうというお話はありました。
――やはり「可愛さ」は、今期の奏を演じる上でのポイントだったのですか？
雨宮：普段から可愛さを特別に意識しているわけではないんですが、奏には、彼女が自分で分かっている可愛さも、分かっていない可愛さもあると私は思っていて。その両方の可愛さがあるからこそ、「ちょっと毒っ気も多いけど、愛されるキャラ」という絶妙のバランス感になっているのかなと。可愛い“だけ”の子では全然ないんですが、要所要所で出てくる可愛さはやっぱり奏の魅力だと思うので、そこは見て欲しいところでもあります。
