The protagonist of this work is Haruka, who spends her high school life as a loner. Haruka is suddenly summoned to another world along with her classmates, and while making full use of the bad skills imposed on her by God, including the loner nature, she aims to conquer the other world alone.
Animate Times is running a series of interviews that delve into the appeal of this work! In the first installment, we asked Umeda Shuuichirou, who plays Haruka, about the highlights of the anime and the cheat skills he would like to have.
-Please tell us your impressions when you first read the original work.
Shuuichirou Umeda (hereafter Umeda), who plays Haruka: When I read the original novel written by Shoji Goji, I felt that Haruka’s narration style was one of a kind. I was excited to see how much of Haruka’s personality was expressed through the sentences and lines. Just like the original novel, Bibi’s manga also expresses Haruka’s unique style of making jokes on her own, which I thought was interesting.
–One of the charms of this work is Haruka’s style, who is a loner but talks to herself all the time in her head.
Umeda: I think so. Even when summoned by God, Haruka doesn’t say, “What, where am I?!” but says, “I’ve appeared, I’ve appeared, in a white room.” “A Lonely Person’s Conquest of Another World” is fresh, yet somehow nostalgic. I personally think it’s a work that gives you a feeling you’ve never experienced before.
–Please introduce Haruka once again.
Umeda: Haruka is a loner (laughs). “HARUKA is bocchi.”
–That’s his identity!
Umeda: But actually, he’s the type of person who wants to be a loner. That’s because being a loner allows him to pursue what he wants to do. God gave him the skill of being a loner, but he likes coming up with various ideas on his own, so he can enjoy a solitary life even in another world.
Haruka doesn’t think that he has to work hard for someone else, or that he has to work hard to survive, but rather thinks first and foremost about how he can enjoy the other world and make the most of it. That’s his personality. However, even if he doesn’t want to, he ends up supporting everyone and being useful to someone, which is just the kind of person Haruka is.
