The protagonist of this work is Haruka, who spends her high school life as a loner. Haruka is suddenly summoned to another world along with her classmates, and while making full use of the bad skills imposed on her by God, including the loner nature, she aims to conquer the other world alone.
Animate Times is running a series of interviews that delve into the appeal of this work! In the second installment, we asked Shiraishi Haruka, who plays the class president, about the highlights of the anime and the cheat skill she desperately desires.
-Please tell us your impressions when you first read the original work.
Shiraishi Haruka (hereafter, Shiraishi), who plays the class president: The story of Haruka and his classmates’ hectic life in another world progresses at a comfortable pace, so I was drawn into the story more and more. I felt good about the good tempo, which made me read through it in no time.
Monsters also appear in this work, but as I continued reading, I began to lose track of whether the class presidents were fighting enemies like monsters, or Haruka (laughs). After all, no matter how many times the class presidents tried to catch Haruka, he would run away! There are many original settings, including the protagonist trying to run away and become a loner, so I felt that this work cannot be lumped together as an alternate world story.
–As the story progresses, Haruka desires being alone to the point that she thinks, “There’s no need to run away like that.”
Shiraishi: That’s right! It would take a lot of energy to run away, and there must be good things in being with everyone… But in Haruka’s case, rather than being truly lonely, he has chosen to be alone even though there are people around him. Because of that difference, I don’t really think he’s a lonely person.
I feel like the word “bocchi” is often used to express loneliness, but through this work, I’ve come to think that “being alone isn’t bad either.” I would definitely recommend “Bocchi no Isekai Tsukai” to people who don’t like being alone. I’m sure it will change your image of the word “bocchi”!
–Please tell us about the chairman you will be playing.
白石：とにかく真面目で一生懸命。周りの人たちのために頑張れる真っすぐさを持っています。もともとリーダー気質ではないのですが、しっかり者であるがゆえに異世界でも「自分がちゃんとしなきゃ」と気持ちを奮い立たせて、何とかクラスをまとめようとします。
でも、心のなかでは不安な気持ちがあったり、「ちゃんとやれているのかな」と思っていたりしていて。私個人としては頑張り過ぎないで欲しいなと思うくらいに、彼女は頑張り屋さんな子です。
――とても魅力的なヒロインですね。
白石：そう！ 彼女は、もう正統派ヒロインど真ん中!!……のはずなのに、正統派ヒロインを正統派ヒロインとして扱わない主人公がいるせいで、あまりそう見えないというか。そこが作品の面白さでもありますが、委員長を演じる身としては、複雑な気持ちもありますね（笑）。
