太陽神ラーを退けるほどの絶大な力を持つオシリスは、エジプトに長寿と繁栄をもたらし人々から厚い信頼を寄せられていました。しかし、セトに殺された後ナイル川に流され、ドゥアトを統治する神となっています。
セトがエネアド法廷に出頭して裁判が行われるなか、なんと死んだはずのオシリスが姿を現しました。彼はホルスが間違いなく自分の子であることを証言し、セトに殺された日のことを話しましたが、この件の詳細は後に明かされます。
オシリスは温厚で物静かな性格ですが、愛するセトを手に入れるためには手段を選びません。ゾッとするような計画を立て、長い年月をかけてセトの精神を支配してきました。
かつてエジプトを統治していたオシリスは、長きに渡りひっそりと砂漠を広げていきました。弟のセトに「守護」という名目で砂漠を与えて拘束し、遥か遠くを目指そうとする自由なセトの心に気づいたオシリスは戦争を起こし、セトに課した「守護」という名の拘束を「戦争」へと替えます。
オシリスは、セトとネフティスの結婚を黙認しましたが、夫婦のあいだに子供が出来ることは許しませんでした。
ネフティスは子供ができないためオシリスの種を求めて、その結果アヌビスが誕生。セトとネフティスの子とされてきたアヌビスは、ネフティスと自分との取り引きによって生まれた子であるとオシリスが明かしています。
セトにとってエジプトの王、兄弟以上になり得ない自分の存在を理解し、強行手段に出てセトを奪ったオシリス。愛するセトのために育てた赤い花で漬けたお酒を飲ませ、セトを自分のものにしようとします。オシリスはセトの種を収めて、美しい花として咲かせたそうです。
オシリスがネフティスとの取り引きで得た創造の力を使い、アヌビスの魂で自分との子をつくろうとしていることを知ったセト。自分が本当の父親ではないと知ってもアヌビスを必死に守ろうとします。愛する我が子のためにセトは抵抗をやめて、自ら口づけをしてオシリスを受け入れました。
ことあとオシリスはセトの策により殺害されるのですが、ドゥアトの王になってもセトへの執着は止まりません。
オシリスはセトに疑いの種を植え付け、セト自身に神としての存在を否定する「暗示」をかけていました。セトが信じていた全てを壊し、セトを内側から徐々に破壊していったのです。
ネフティスとアヌビスに自分の存在を消されるのが怖いと話していたセト。信じていた兄と妻に数百年間騙され続けて、彼らの子を自分の子だと思って愛情深く育ててきました。
真の平和がどこに起因するのか知っていたネフティスは自分との子供が欲しかったのだろうと告げるオシリス。最強の武力を持つ神に無力さを刻みつけ、いつか耐えきれなくなったらセト自らの足でドゥアトへ来るよう緻密に計画していたんですね。
後にホルスがセトを組み敷くことができたのもこの暗示のせいで、セトが無意識に自分が弱いと信じてしまったからだといいます。
ホルスはイシスとオシリスの子。まだ神には名を連ねていないものの、天空の神ヌトの加護を授かった「天空の代弁者」です。実は幼い頃に叔父であるセトに会っており、酩酊したセトにアヌビスと勘違いされたまま数日間一緒に過ごしたことをきっかけに、特別な思いを抱いています。かつてはホルスもアヌビスと同じ呪いにかかっていました。
かつて、セトに見つからないように母イシスは屈辱に耐え隠れて過ごしていましたが、成長したホルスと共にセトの前に現れ、ホルスが正当な王の後継者であることを主張しています。
傲慢で挑戦的でもあり、ちょっと距離感が近い叔父様。王座をめぐる戦いのなかで、神にすらなっていないホルスが水の中で息をしていることを不審に思ったセトが、なんとホルスに口付けをして確認している場面があります。
セトはホルスから大地の神シューの空気を察知するのですが、セトにとってはただの確認だとしてもホルスは動揺してしまいますよね。
王座をかけた三本勝負の二試合目のあと、セトは甥のホルスに組み敷かれています。
他者の心を把握し、言葉巧みに破壊へと導くという厄災の神セクメトは、オシリスに復讐するための方法をセトに囁きました。そそのかされたセトはホルスの寝床に侵入しますが、返り討ちにあってホルスに犯されてしまいます。
理性を失ったかのようにセトを抱こうとするホルスと、必死に暴れて逃げようとするセト。強さを誇る戦争と砂漠の神セトが何故か押さえつけられ、ホルスの下で抵抗できなくなります。冠の下から露わになったセトの美しい顔にも惹き込まれる場面。セトがホルスに組み敷かれたのは、オシリスがセトに植え付けた「暗示」のせいだといいます。
ホルスは愛と美の神ハトホルからアプローチされているのですが、ホルス自身は叔父様のことで頭がいっぱいのようです。
エジプトの王座をめぐるセトとホルスの戦いでは、三度の決闘の末にホルスが勝利しました。
これまで暴虐の限りを尽くし、自分を信じて慕っていた者たちを裏切り殺してきたセト。人間を手にかけて純粋な魂を粉砕し、死者の秩序を崩壊させたのです。
セトは数えきれない多くの罪を犯したため重刑は避けられないけれど、刑罰の執行までの猶予が与えられました。粉砕した魂を収集して彼らの呪いを解き、死者の秩序を取り戻すことに最善を尽くさなければなりません。
第2部では謎の髭男もセトに盛大に絡んでくることになるのですが、第1部でも少し登場していたその異国の神は、セトの美貌に魅了されてしまった様子でした。彼の思惑はいったい──⁉
半神に身を堕としたセトは、これ以降は神としての力を行使できず、贖罪でのみ砂からの応答をもらうことになります。果たしてセトは己の罪とどう向き合うのでしょうか。そして、オシリス、ホルス、アヌビス、謎の異国の神など、セトとの複雑な絡まりからも目が離せません！
