Poor detective Sosuke Kaburaya meets Sarah, a princess from another world who wields magic, while he was following him. And Livia, a female knight who has been chasing Sarah. The two spend their daily lives in Gifu, meeting various people. However, it is interesting to see how the daily life unfolds in ways that go beyond expectations. That’s the kind of work it is.
Animate Times will deliver official interviews with the cast after each episode! We asked them to talk about the charm and enjoyment of their work.
In the first episode (Part 2), Naki Yano plays Sara da Odin, a princess from another world who specializes in magic.
–Please tell us your impressions of the work “Weird Person’s Salad Bowl”.
Yano: First of all, what is “Weirdo’s Salad Bowl”? That’s what it feels like (lol). Sarah’s audition manuscript also featured a lot of otaku terminology, so I thought it would be a really fun comedy piece.
At the tape audition, let’s do it! That’s what I thought when I put in my voice, but since there was no studio audition, my manager told me that it was decided, and I thought, “That’s such an interesting work!” I remember what happened.
After that, I read the original novel, and even though I’m not good at reading, it was very easy to read, and I’m curious about what comes next! That’s what I thought as I continued reading, so I was looking forward to the dubbing to begin. However, when I was reading the novel, I was more interested in the whereabouts of Livia (CV.M.A.O.) than Sarah (lol).
–Did you understand the meaning of the title?
Yano: Understood. There were already so many weird people out there, so it was harder to find someone who wasn’t weird (lol).
ーーWhen you played Sarah, what kind of girl did you think she would be?
Yano: She was super cute, but also super funny. You might think she’s smart and can do anything, but since she’s a princess and a child from another world, there are things she doesn’t know and an innocent side. I thought that he was a child of his age. Since he was still a child, his expressions were rich and cute.
–You have an aura that makes you feel like you’re not just an ordinary person.
Yano: He’s skillful and has a lot of talent, so he has a mysterious charm. Also, I wonder what kind of life he would have led in another world, and he is so far-sighted at his age.
–I was able to hear from Avan that she had a fierce life, but since she was a princess, the way she spoke was also impressive.
Yano: It was really fun to say things like “warawa” and “dakadoja”. I also thought about using the first person as “concubine” (lol). Later in the story, there is a scene where she imitates the role of a concubine, and I thought that was a good idea. I think I’ll suddenly use the word “concubine” when I’m about to say something like a gag. I think it’s quite cute (lol).
–I think it was from the tape audition to the recording of the first episode.Did you have any direction during the role preparation stage?
Yano: It was my first time doing a Noja Loli'' show, so I was a little nervous, but when I took my own Sara in the first episode, I thought,
Maybe I should try making her more energetic.” However, I didn’t want to make any major changes. I was relieved that the recording itself ended quickly, as did the others.
–Yomi Hirasaka, who wrote the original work, was also included in the cast selection, so I guess he had a good image of him.
Yano: That makes me happy! Also, during the dubbing for the first episode, I thought that (Kaburaya) Sousuke’s (CV. Shin Furukawa) tsukkomi was so pleasant that it was easy to act (lol). No matter how much I messed up, he would always laugh at me, so it was really easy to work with him.
–The dubbing wasn’t distributed, right?
