Prior to the broadcast, a roundtable discussion was held with the five main cast members. Takeuchi Shunsuke (Doran), Selina Hitomi, Ohashi Ayaka (Christina), Sasaki Mirai (Deirdre), and Matsunaga Akane (Airi) spoke at length about the appeal of their characters and the story.
–I’d like to ask you to introduce the characters you play. First of all, what kind of person is Doran, the character played by Takeuchi-san?
Takeuchi Shunsuke (hereinafter, Takeuchi): Although Doran retains memories of his past life as an ancient divine dragon, he is an earnest young man who values human activities and life.
While living with the people I love in the village, I learn every day about the wonderfulness of living with nature and what moves people. I’m not only charmed by her kindness, but also by her strength and reliability, and I feel that she is much calmer than her age would suggest.
Also, her naturalness is attractive. Because she’s so straightforward, there are times when you can’t help but want to point out her flaws (laughs).
–What do you women think of Doran?
Miki Sasaki (hereinafter, Sasaki): Doran is just perfect. He always looks around calmly, and has such a broad perspective. I think he’s so wonderful. I’m totally in love with him (laughs).
Takeuchi: It would be great to have someone like Doran in the community.
Sasaki: That’s right, they are very reliable.
Ayaka Ohashi (hereafter, Ohashi): I understand. Even if I were to lose faith in people, I think Dolan has a straightforwardness and reassurance that makes me think I can trust what he says.
Sekine Hitomi (hereinafter, Sekine): Not only is he cool and reliable, but he also has a sense of familiarity, as if he’s right there by your side when you notice him. Before you know it, he’s warmly attached to you…
Ohashi: Sometimes the distance between us suddenly becomes zero (laughs).
Sekine: That’s right! And because he’s so natural, we just accept him as a matter of course. I think that mysterious sense of distance is also one of his charms.
Akane Matsunaga (hereinafter, Matsunaga): From my perspective, I think he is very mature. One reason is that he is living his second life, but at first glance he seems like a normal young man, and when I read his monologues, I can see that he thinks like an adult and has a quick mind.
–Perhaps it’s because you’re playing the role of Airi?
Matsunaga: I think that’s true! I feel like he’s very much like an older brother.
Takeuchi: For Airi, I was directed to “guide her” during the post-recording. I think the staff members were paying close attention to how I interacted with each of them.
Ohashi: Both Airi and Selina are somehow attracted to Doran, but does Doran treat them differently?
Takeuchi: I wonder (laughs). I think Serena is more like an equal, or more like a friend, but I feel like I’m watching over Airi more. After all, Airi is the village idol.
Matsunaga: Airi might be thinking, “They’re treating me like a kid again!” (laughs)
Takeuchi: That feeling is cute too (laughs).
So, what about Serena?
関根：まっすぐで愛らしくて、天真爛漫なところがセリナの魅力です。怒ったり、泣いたりと、物語が進むにつれていろいろな表情を見せてくれるようになるので、セリナの感情表現にも注目していただきたいです。
あとはドランさんや村の皆さんに出会うことで、内面も少しずつ変化していきます。旦那さんを探すために旅に出たセリナが、そこからどう成長していくのか楽しみにしていてください。
武内：セリナはセリフとモノローグの切り替えが多いから、アフレコが大変そう。
関根：確かに「こうなんですね！」と言ったあと、すぐに「……でもやっぱり、こうなのかな？」と悩むところがあるので、かなり忙しいです（笑）。天真爛漫のようでいて、頭の回転が早いというか。ちゃんと考えるところは考える子なんだなと思います。
武内：それがセリナのいいところでもありますよね。
関根：そうですね。誰かの言葉を受けて考すぎちゃうこともあるんですけど、真面目に受け取るからこそ成長できるところがありますし。何よりどんな状況でも明るいので、みんなが手を差し伸べたくなるのかなと思います。
――大橋さん演じるクリスティーナについてはいかがでしょう？
大橋：クリスティーナは魔法学院で優秀な成績を収める女剣士ということで、凛とした佇まいが大きな魅力です。剣技を披露すればキャーと歓声があがるくらいかっこいい存在なんですけど、意外と脳筋なところがあって（笑）。思い立ったらすぐ行動しちゃうタイプですね。真面目であるがゆえに、クスッとできるシーンもあるので、そういう部分にも注目していただけたら嬉しいです。
関根：キャラクター紹介の「人付き合いが苦手」というのを読んで、そうだったと思いました（笑）。
大橋：そうなんですよ。物語の最初のほうは村人とどう接していいかわかっていなくて、うまく会話のキャッチボールができないんです。でも、ドランやセリナと過ごすうちに少しずつ変わっていくので、その変化を見ていただきたいですね。
関根：みんな馴染んだときにどんな表情を見せてくれるのか、楽しみですよね。
大橋：あとはやっぱり、本当に強い人なので戦闘シーンも楽しみにしています。
――では、ディアドラの魅力はどんなところでしょうか？
佐々木：ディアドラは美しく妖艶な女性で、かなり気が強いタイプなんですが、森の仲間を思う気持ちは人一倍強くて、実はとても優しい女性なんです。ドランたちと出会うことで徐々に、徐々に新たな表情を見せてくれるようになるので、それを楽しみにしていただきたいです。
武内：クールな見た目とは裏腹に優しい心を持っているし、実は親しみやすい部分もあって、本当にギャップの大きいキャラクターですよね。
佐々木：そうなんです。登場は少し先になりますけど、魅力たっぷりに描かれています。
武内：最初は、ドラン、セリナ、クリスティーナの三人が中心となって物語が進んでいくので、ディアドラがどのような形でドランたちと接触して、関係性にどのような広がりが生まれるのか。ぜひ楽しみにしていただきたいですね。
――最後は、アイリです。松永さん、いかがでしょうか？
松永：とにかく健気でいい子で、戦いに向かう人たちを遠くから見守り、心から「頑張って」とお祈するようなタイプです。10歳にしてはしっかりしていて、ドランさんと一緒に魔法の勉強をしている姿を見てなんて立派なんだと思いました。
大橋：アイリは本当にかわいいんですよ。こういう妹がいたらいいなぁって思います。その健気さが報われてほしいですし、絶対に幸せになってほしいです！
関根：ずっとドランのことが好きだったのに、あとから来たセリナにも優しいじゃないですか？
一同：（笑）
関根：みんなに対して愛があるのが素敵だなと思いますし、そういう部分がかわいいなと思います。
武内：アフレコ中、アイリがドランの名前を呼んでくれることがあるんですけど、その声のかけ方が印象的ですごく元気づけられるんです。きっと、戦いに送り出される人たちも心の支えになっているんだろうなと思いましたね。
松永：そういっていただけると嬉しいです。送り出す側なので、心の中では寂しく思っているはずだと思うんですけど、そういうことを口にしないのもアイリの芯の強さなんだろうなと思います。
