It has been decided that a “Pre-release Festival” and “Stage Greetings to Commemorate the Release” will be held for this film! At the “Pre-release Festival” to be held on Thursday, October 3rd, director Go Koga, screenwriter Hiroyuki Yoshino, and character designer Toru Yatabe will appear after the screening of the main feature.
The “Release Commemoration Stage Greeting” to be held on Saturday, October 5th will feature appearances by Seki Toshihiko, who plays Kitaro’s father, Kiuchi Hidenobu, who plays Mizuki, and director Koga Go.
Additionally, new shots of the buddy pair between Kitaro’s father and Mizuki have also been released.
It has been decided that a “Pre-screening Festival” will be held on Thursday, October 3rd, the day before the film’s release, where people can enjoy “The Birth of Kitaro: The Gegege Mystery – The Real Version” before anyone else! After the screening, there will be a stage greeting with director Go Koga, screenwriter Hiroyuki Yoshino, and character designer Toru Yatabe. The production team will talk about their thoughts on the “real version,” and they plan to celebrate the release together with fans.
Furthermore, on Saturday, October 5th, Toshihiko Seki, who plays Kitaro’s father, Hidenobu Kiuchi, who plays Mizuki, and director Go Koga will appear on stage for the first time in about a year since the film’s release last year to commemorate the release. This is the only day that the two cast members and the director will be together for the “real version” event! They will talk about the film, which has returned to the screen in its “true form,” and their passion for the “ge-mystery” phenomenon that continues to spread across Japan. Hidenobu Kiuchi will also be giving a stage greeting at MOVIX Hiyoshizu on Sunday, October 6th. Kiuchi gave a stage greeting at the same theater in February of this year, and this will be his second stage greeting to commemorate the release of “The Birth of Kitaro: The GeGeGe Mystery Real Version.”

Along with the announcement of the stage greeting, new shots of the buddy pair of Kitaro’s father and Mizuki have also been released! The stills show the pair’s backs against the striking backdrop of a lake as the sun sets and the glow of fireflies, and are the scene where Kitaro’s father reveals his true identity and past to Mizuki for the first time. There is also a scene where Kitaro’s father and Mizuki are gazing at something with their backs to an island floating on the lake. Furthermore, there is a scene where the pair stand in front of a barrier deep inside a sealed pit on an isolated island at the end of the story, making these three stills even more irresistible for the buddy pair that sparked an enthusiastic boom last year.
