On Saturday, September 21st, a special stage for the TV anime “Ao no Hako” was held at “Kyoto International Manga and Anime Fair 2024”. The official report has arrived.

A special stage for the TV anime “Ao no Hako” was held at the manga and anime event “Kyoto International Manga and Anime Fair 2024” currently being held in Kyoto, with three cast members, Chiba Shoya (role of Inomata Daiki), Kito Akari (role of Chono Hina), and Kobayashi Chiaki (role of Kasahara Tadashi), taking the stage.
The cast members appeared on stage in stylish kimonos and gave a detailed introduction to the upcoming series, highlighting the appeal of the series and its characters.
On stage, three new cast members were announced for the first time that day. When asked about the lively atmosphere on set with the addition of new characters, Kobayashi said, “It really feels like a school. For example, if it’s a scene at the aquarium, we talk about our memories of the aquarium, or what we think of Taiki’s move. The cast members are all around the same age, so it’s an easy environment to talk to.”
In reference to the characters who will soon be starting high school, Chiba was asked about his first year as a voice actor. He replied, “When I went out to eat, for example to get a hamburger, I would buy two hamburgers because they were only 100 yen at the time and drink water, or I would go to a place where I could get free refills of coffee to fill my stomach. (Laughs) That made me happy when I received a call about work.”
Kito-san said, “I had a lot of free time in my first year (laughs).”
Kobayashi replied, recalling the situation at the time, “I had part-time jobs and other work here and there, but I remember it being tough because I tried to keep my rent as low as possible and lived in a cheap place.”
At the end of the event, Chiba said, “We are really looking forward to the broadcast coming up soon, but since the original work has been loved by so many people, I think people are curious to see how it will be expressed in the anime and what that scene will be like, but I think it is an anime that has been drawn with great care.
I hope you enjoy watching the characters grow as they pause during conversations and wonder what the other person is thinking.
Also, this is completely unrelated, but today is the birthday of Yuuma Uchida, who plays Hariu! (All the guests on stage turn to the camera) Happy birthday, Uchida-san! The cast members were all really friendly during the dubbing, and it was really fun talking about each and every scene together.
