A Minecraft multi-server was used for the event. Participants test their courage by aiming for the goal on a spectacular map created by the production team led by Ku. The highlights of the event are the surprise points set up all over the place and the reactions of the participants as they struggle to solve the puzzles.
The “Minecraft Ghost Hunt” is held every year on a map with a different theme, but this year’s theme is “Our Summer Vacation.” The introduction states, “We were left at our uncle’s house for the month of August. And we had a ghost hunt in the Japanese summer that unfolded before our eyes.”
The promotional video for the event showed a boy visiting the countryside and exploring the fields and mountains, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. I’m already looking forward to the day of the event, wondering where the horror elements will emerge from this seemingly idyllic landscape!
In preparation for the Minecraft Guts 2024 event, we’d like to introduce you to this year’s highlights, schedule, and participants.
This year marks the 13th anniversary of the Minecraft Ghost Challenge, which was first held in 2011. This event has continued to grow alongside Minecraft, and has undergone various updates since its inception, providing new fears and surprises to participants and viewers alike every year.
What is the appeal of the “Minecraft Guts Challenge” that has been loved by many people and has been running for over 10 years? We will look back on past events and introduce the highlights of the event.
One of the major attractions of “Minecraft Guts” is that a different theme is prepared each year, and sometimes there are multiple endings.
The theme for 2024 is “Our Summer Vacation,” but past subjects have included themes with strong horror elements, such as the Cthulhu Mythos and Backrooms, each with a different story.
For example, in the 2019 Minecraft Guts Challenge, which was based on the Cthulhu Mythos, participants went to a mansion deep in the mountains to solve the mysteries of the Necronomicon (an important book that appears in the Cthulhu Mythos) and come face to face with a powerful god.
The ending may differ depending on the choices made by the participants, so no one knows who will take what action or how they will end up until the moment. This is an event that can only be enjoyed live.
The vast map, which reinforces the worldview of that year, took about a year to create. The map, which underwent careful preparation, is not only spacious but also detailed, allowing participants and viewers to imagine “what happened here.”
For example, in 2022, a space map with a space travel theme will be released, where team members may be left alone on different levels. It was a map that fully evokes the horror of space horror, where players are attacked by unknown creatures in a lonely, closed space.
In addition to the courage map, “Minecraft Courage” also has a lobby map where participants can play while waiting. You can eat food from the food stalls, enjoy attractions such as whack-a-mole and fishing tournaments, and the lobby map alone is so large that it is impossible to see it all in one day.
Be sure to check out the perspectives of the various participants and enjoy every corner of this vast, carefully crafted map!
