New PV and Opening Theme Song by HY

During the “Kinokoinu” Episodes 1-3 Premium Advance Screening & Talk Show on September 8, 2024, the second promotional video was unveiled, giving fans a deeper look into the whimsical world of Kinokoinu and its main characters. This PV introduces new scenes that set the stage for the series, along with a sneak peek at the opening theme song, “Mushroom Dog,” performed by the Okinawan band HY.

HY’s song captures the playful and somewhat quirky daily lives of Kinokoinu and Hotaru, blending catchy lyrics and an upbeat melody that fans can’t help but hum along to. The song’s chorus highlights the charm of the mysterious creature, Kinokoinu, singing “Dog, dog, dog, mushroom dog,” making it a fun tune for both listening and singing along.

The anime has also received a special message from rakugo artist Taihei Hayashiya, who serves as a director of the Japan Animal Welfare Society. Hayashiya shares a personal reflection on loss and the joy of welcoming new furry family members, encouraging viewers to cherish their pets as family, just as Kinokoinu becomes an irreplaceable part of Hotaru’s life.

Although Kinokoinu causes chaos with his antics, like eating all the snacks and drawing on the walls, his presence slowly helps Hotaru find joy again.
