5th interview series for the fall anime “MF Ghost” 2nd Season: Yuichi Nakamura, who plays Jackson Taylor | A brilliant attempt to straddle the line between reality and fiction”MF Ghost” (original work: Shuichi Shigeno) is the “successor” to “Initial D”. In the first season of the TV anime, which aired in 2023, Katagiri Kanata’s qualifying time attack for the “Lake Ashi GT” was shown, and the final episode reached a climax of excitement.

And the sequel, Season 2, finally started on October 6, 2024!

Takumi Fujiwara’s student Natsumi Katagiri, the genius who returned from France Mitsuteru Sawatari, and the young “emperor” of MFG, Michael Beckenbauer… Anticipation is building for how these three and other drivers will battle it out on Lake Ashi.

Animate Times conducted email interviews with the cast! Our fifth interview is with Yuichi Nakamura, who plays Jackson Taylor. Now that we are entering the second season, we asked him about his impressions of Jackson Taylor, what we should look out for in the future, and the appeal of this series.

–After the first season, have your thoughts or feelings about the character you play, Jackson Taylor, changed?

Yuichi Nakamura (Jackson Taylor) (hereafter, Nakamura): It’s a continuous story, so there’s no change. The drama was still in the middle of the race, after all.

–What did you keep in mind when recording the 2nd Season? If there were any differences from the 1st Season, please tell us.

Nakamura: There are no changes here either.

The recording itself was continued as it was, so now that some time has passed, I’d like to watch the broadcast soon and check the scenes again.

──After playing the role, what charms did you feel about Taylor? And what are some points we should look out for in the future?

Nakamura: He’s a man who runs while knowing his limits, so it would be interesting if he could overcome that, but will it be possible…?

–Like Taylor, you also drive a 911. What do you think is the appeal of the car?

Nakamura: It’s interesting that even though there are so many different car models, each one has a slightly different ride feel. It’s like they have their own quirks…

自分は現在は911ですが、以前乗っていたボクスターと比べると出力は上がったものの、操作が楽しいと感じたのはボクスターの方でした。スペックだけが全てではないというのが面白さの一つと思います。

──ファンの皆さんへメッセージをお願いいたします。

中村：リアルと虚構の狭間を見事に攻めている、これは『イニD』の頃からの血脈と感じます。

本作では、現実ではありえなさそうな舞台で、とんでもないマシンでレースが行われます。それを少し脳内で想像してみてアニメを見て……を繰り返すときっと良いトリップに陥るかと（笑）。

少しオーバーかもしれませんがそんな体験が出来る作品は多くありません。兎に角楽しんでくださいませ！
