It was also announced that Pacchae will be performing the theme song, and a comment has been received.
Furthermore, additional voice actor information has been released, with Kojima Sachiko playing the role of Shiraishi Chika and Iwanaka Mutsumi playing the role of Aikawa Renji.
The newly released visual shows Mai and her husband Keisuke happily chasing after his wife Takae and her reincarnation, an elementary school student named Marika, with an illustration of many sunflowers spread out in the background.
Combined with the tagline, “My wife, who died 10 years ago, has returned carrying her school bag,” the key visual seems to capture the happy times of the Niijima family.
–What were your thoughts when you read the original story and script?
Fantasy/Realism are motifs that should be polar opposites. The two are ingeniously interwoven by the expressiveness of Yayo Murata, creating a heartfelt work that touches the hearts of us, and above all, the protagonists. My hands clenched as I read the original work. It’s a work I love.
–What are the thoughts and feelings behind the opening?
The complex interwoven feelings of the protagonists and the emotional upheavals of their lives. I tried to express these feelings and write lyrics that would convey their emotions to everyone who watches the film, from the beginning to the end of the story, no matter what scene they hear. I’m very happy to have been a part of this film.
— This time, “bento” is an important element in the story. What is your favorite bento and why?
I like classic bentos like “THE Bento”. Also, it’s not a type of bento, but I really like the simple Neapolitan pasta that’s served on the edge (lol). That brings back memories whenever I eat it.
Actually, even the first time I ate it, it felt nostalgic. I don’t even remember.
–A message to your fans?
I would be happy if you could enjoy both “My Wife is a Primary School Student” and “Aino Reunion” as part of the same work. I hope you will enjoy the lyrics, which change in how they sound as the story progresses, through the main characters.
–What were your thoughts after reading the original work?
I have children, so I was able to relate to the story and the people in it. I
turned the pages nervously, wondering, “What would happen if I were in the same situation?”
Each character has their own sense of justice, and no one is a bad person…
About the character you played
It really made me think.
I think there are a lot of mothers out there who have a really hard time dealing with their children because of past trauma or current circumstances.
If something goes wrong, I might end up like that too. But we’re
still family. It
was really hard for me to act .
— This time, “bento” is an important element in the story. What is your favorite bento and why?
The president of our agency is the kind of person who says, “A delicious lunch box will definitely make you want to work!”, so the lunch boxes he (the previous president) brings to the stage and on set are seriously delicious!
So I know a lot of delicious bentos! (laughs)
–A message to your fans?
The cast and staff all made this movie with great care. I think it’s important to
accept
and refine each person’s happiness, and to make the most of it . I would definitely recommend watching this with someone special.
–What were your thoughts after reading the original work?
A wonderful story with wonderful illustrations.
The setting of “My wife has become an elementary school student!” creates many funny and touching scenes.
I cried so much at the end that my nose got stuffy.
As a viewer, I am very excited to see the wonderful scenes and characters come to life in the anime.
About the character you played
Renji is a young man with a unique aura. He
is a man of few words and may be easily misunderstood, but when you talk to him, he is a very gentlemanly and cool man, and as straightforward as a ruler, and I was blown away by the contrast.
I consulted repeatedly with the director and sound director so as not to lose that feeling when I was acting, and went into the recording session.
— This time, “bento” is an important element in the story. What is your favorite bento and why?
