“Seirei Gensouki” is a fantasy story of reincarnation in another world, where the past and present intersect. Rio, who has awakened the memories of Amakawa Haruto and his great magical powers from his past life, enrolls in a prestigious academy where the children of aristocrats gather. The story depicts Rio, who crawls up from the bottom of a class society, overcoming his cruel fate through repeated encounters and partings.
A new chapter of the “Spirit Chronicles” series has begun! After returning to the Strahl region after his journey, Rio rescues Celia, who was forced into an unwanted political marriage. Then, he is led by a pillar of light that suddenly appears, and has a shocking reunion with Ayase Miharu, the girl he had his first love in his previous life, Amakawa Haruto.
A key visual featuring the characters who hold the key to the story of this work has also been released, and in anticipation of the broadcast, we conducted an email interview with Nao Toyama, who plays Liselotte Cretia. In addition, a new visual of Liselotte for the second season has also been released!
In the interview, we asked Nao Toyama, who plays Liselotte, about her impressions of the character and what to look forward to in the second season.
–Looking back at Liselotte’s exploits in the first season, what kind of character do you think she is? Please tell us again about your impressions of Liselotte, whether they have changed or remained consistent.
Nao Toyama, voice of Liselotte Cretia (hereafter, Toyama): She only appeared in a few episodes in the first season, and since the story was set several years earlier than the Liselotte I had played in the drama CDs of the original novel, I was careful to think about how I could make everyone feel like Liselotte. The scene where she got excited about Rio, who knows a lot about tea, left a lasting impression on me, and I was touched by how cute she was as she had grown older.
Many years have passed since then, and in the second season you will be able to see her strong side as she stands resolutely to protect Amande, so I hope you will enjoy this contrast.
— Now that the second season has been announced, what are your honest thoughts about doing the dubbing?
Higashiyama: I was very happy when I heard about the second season. I heard that Liselotte will have many scenes, so I was excited to see what kind of story awaits.
Although there were still restrictions on dubbing, I was happy that we were able to gather a larger number of people than in the first season to record. The recording went quite smoothly, and even in that short time we were able to communicate with each other, which I think made us stronger as a cast.
–What do you think are the highlights of Liselotte in season 2?
Higashiyama: Various troubles arise in this story as well, but Lieselotte’s ability to always remain calm and look at the situation from a bird’s-eye view was impressive.
交易都市アマンドを治める立場としてどんな相手がやってきても礼節を弁えて話していたり、大勢の人々の士気を上げながらまとめあげていたり、今までの可愛らしいほっこりとしたドラマCDのときとはまた違う一面をたくさん演じさせていただくことができて私自身もとても充実した時間を過ごさせていただきました。
──リーゼロッテを演じていて「リーゼロッテのここが好き！」というポイントがあれば教えて下さい
東山：淑女としての振る舞いがかっこいいですね。恋の矢印を向けられたときの回避のしかた、心が弱っている人への寄り添い方など、どれもがスマートすぎてあんなに可愛いリーゼロッテなのにイケメン……って思ってしまうシーンも多々ありました（笑）。
困ってしまうような言葉を投げかけられてもしっかり打ち返しているところも見どころのひとつと言えるのではないでしょうか！ でも相手に見えないところでちゃんと嫌な顔してたり、ちょっと引いてたりするんですよね。そんなところも私は好きですね（笑）。
──第2期で印象に残っているリーゼロッテの台詞があれば教えて下さい
東山：先ほどの質問でお答えした「心が弱っている人への寄り添い」について、印象に残っているセリフがあります。とある戦闘のときに、リーゼロッテと一緒に馬車の中で隠れていたフローラが怖がって震えてしまうシーンがあるんです。
そこでリーゼロッテはフローラの手に自分の手を重ねて「申し訳ございません。恥ずかしながら私、怯えてしまいまして。フローラ様のお手を握らせていただいてもよろしいでしょうか？」と言うんです。
あくまで自分が怖くなってしまったので手を握らせてくださいという姿勢で、相手に気を遣わせることなく寄り添うやり方に感激しました……！ 普通に手を握ってあげるだけでも優しいのに、こんなことが言えるリーゼロッテはなんて聡明な人なんだ……と思いました。
──ファンのみなさんへ一言お願いします
東山：「精霊幻想記」がアニメ第2期として帰ってくることができました！ ドラマCDとしてもたくさんの物語をお届けさせていただいてきましたが、こうやってアニメが続けさせていただけて改めて皆様の応援の大きさを感じております。ありがとうございます!! 今作でもリオの無双っぷりと、可愛らしいヒロインたちの活躍を堪能していただけたら嬉しいです。
