A TV anime series began airing in 2014, and finally a movie version, Haikyu!! The Movie: Battle at the Dump, which depicts one of the most popular episodes from the original work, “Karasuno High School vs. Nekoma High School,” is now in theaters.
This year, the beloved series “Haikyu!!” celebrates its 10th anniversary since its TV anime broadcast began. To commemorate this, the “Haikyu!! 10th Anniversary -Connecting- Project” will begin in April 2024.
The project, which has the theme of “connecting,” will feature various events throughout the year, including exhibitions, with a finale event planned for 2025.
To coincide with this 10th anniversary project, Animate Times is conducting a relay interview that connects the cast members! In this article, we asked Murase Ayumu, who plays Hinata Shoyo, about his feelings and memories now that it’s been 10 years.
–How do you feel about reaching your 10th anniversary? Also, please give a message to all the fans who have supported you for the past 10 years.
Murase Ayumu, voice of Hinata Shoyo (hereinafter, Murase): To be honest, it feels like it’s been 10 years already (laughs).
Of course, the work “Haikyu!!” is entertaining, but I think it has been able to continue running thanks to all the people who have been looking forward to it for the past 10 years, and also all the people who have come across the work during those 10 years and continue to support it.

–You’ve depicted a lot of matches over the past 10 years, but which one would you say is your favorite?
Murase: Each match had its own theme, so it’s hard to choose a favorite, but the one that stuck with me the most was how we hung on and challenged the overwhelmingly strong Shiratorizawa Academy High School team.
— Haikyu!! is full of heart-wrenching quotes, famous lines, and famous scenes, but looking back, are there any lines or scenes that were particularly memorable?
Murase: Yamaguchi’s line, “What else do you need besides pride!!!” made a particularly strong impression on me.
Tsukishima, moved by Yamaguchi’s words, who has continued to work hard, gradually evolves as a player. I feel that these words are quite key not only in the words themselves but also in the flow of the story.
— I think all the schools that appear in “Haikyu!!” are unique and attractive. Of all the schools that have appeared so far, which one would you like to play against?
Murase: I myself am terrible at sports (laughs).
As for Hinata, he may want to rematch strong and fun teams like Seijou and Date High School again and again!
