The final trailer for “Blue Period” has been released, showing Yato (Maeda Gordon) struggling to move forward despite being nearly crushed by his anguish! The hugely popular manga masterpiece “Blue Period” (by Tsubasa Yamaguchi), which has sold over 7 million copies, has been adapted into a live-action film starring Go Ayano and directed by Kentaro Hagiwara. It will be released nationwide on Friday, August 9, 2024.

The final trailer for “Blue Period” has now been released, showing Yato continuing to struggle forward despite being nearly crushed by his anguish.

In the final trailer, Yato, who was unable to find meaning in life as he was neither “a delinquent nor an honor student, a hard worker nor a coward,” is shown struggling to come to terms with “himself” after drawing a picture. Yato joined the art club and decided to take the entrance exam for Tokyo University of the Arts, but compared to the rivals that appeared before him, he felt that “I’m just an ordinary person after all,” and was dejected that he would never become a genius. Nevertheless, he kept on drawing and drawing and drawing, and the passion that had been sleeping inside him inspired him to keep on drawing.

Furthermore, the unique characters surrounding Yato also face their own struggles. Yato’s classmate Yuka (Takahashi Fumiya) is torn between various thoughts as she searches for her own identity, asking, “What’s not normal about wanting to be beautiful?” Yato’s biggest rival, Setasuke (Itagaki Rihito), says to Yato, who is clever and seems to be able to do anything, “You’re just skillful and good at adapting to others, all you need is effort and strategy,” creating a wall between them, but Setasuke continues to struggle alone in the world of painting where there are no answers.

The members of the school’s art club gently give Yato a push in the face of his struggles. Yato, who was always concerned about what others thought of him, is moved by the words of his senior in the art club, Morimaru (Sakurada Hiyori), “If you see things as blue, then apples and rabbits can be blue too.” And when Yato is unsure about taking the entrance exam for Tokyo University of the Arts, the art club’s advisor, Saeki-sensei (Yakushimaru Hiroko), teaches him an important lesson he had overlooked: “Put the most weight in life on what you love. Isn’t that a normal thing to do?” Everyone will surely find something in Yato, who keeps trying to get back on his feet despite losing confidence many times.

Kenjiro Tsuda, who has worked as a voice actor in numerous hit anime works and has also achieved remarkable success as an actor, has sent in a passionate comment of support for this film: “The transparent scenery begins to shine blue. At the same time, you are burdened with questions: What am I? What is the world? To those who have come to this realization, to those who could not live any other way, struggle and carve out new worlds for yourself with your paintbrush. A passionate tale of art and youth.”

Will Yatora be able to paint the “best picture” in his own colors in the end? You will empathize with the characters who continue to struggle but never stop moving forward, and after watching the movie, you will see a slightly different view of the world. The movie “Blue Period,” which will get everyone excited, will be released nationwide from Friday, August 9th. Please go see it at the theater.
