He talks earnestly about the beauty of the story and visuals, but then suddenly breaks down when asked who his favorite character is. Looking back at each character, he hesitates before concluding, “I love them all the most,” and it’s a comment that is so typical of the anime-loving Miyata-san that it brings a smile to your face.

This work tells the story of five female rowing club members who devote their youth to rowing. The main character, Etsuko-nee, believes herself to be insignificant and lives a boring life with nothing to devote herself to, but by devoting herself to rowing with four other friends, they aim for the same goal, and although they sometimes clash, worry, and suffer, they encourage each other and move forward. “I think that sports-related works often have a lot of momentum, but this one gives you time to think, and I really liked those moments,” said Miyata, who went on to praise the work, saying, “It shows the youth of teenagers with hearts like glass that could break at any moment.
