『ルックバック』は、『ファイアパンチ』や『チェンソーマン』といった話題作を手掛け、劇場アニメ『チェンソーマン レゼ篇』の公開も控える藤本タツキによる作品だ。ひたむきにマンガを作り続ける藤野と京本という2人の少女の姿をみずみずしく描きながらも、やがて起きる2人の運命を分ける出来事を強烈なリアル感を持った筆致で描き出した。
それを原作とする劇場アニメは6月28日より公開されると、初日3日間の興行収入ランキングで1位を獲得し、動員数が13万人、興行収入が2.2億円を突破するなど脅威的なスタートを切った。さらに、SNSでも絶賛コメントが相次ぎ口コミも広がり、公開2週目となる週末興行ランキングでも動員数・興行収入ともに1位を獲得。動員数が35万人、興行収入が6億円を突破し、前週比で105%をマークするなどさらなる広がりを見せている。
Regarding this new work, original author Tatsuki Fujimoto commented, “There’s an expression like ‘breathing life into the characters,’ and that is absolutely true. It felt like I was watching through the camera the world in which Fujino and Kyomoto live. It brought me to tears, thinking that I may never again in my life have my work created with such sincerity.”
Four new scene cuts were also unveiled, showing Fujino, who has absolute confidence in her drawing ability, being shocked when she sees Kyomoto’s drawing, and Fujino, excited after Kyomoto tells her he has always been her fan, continuing to draw despite being soaked in the rain. Kyomoto was the one who made Fujino give up on drawing manga, and Fujino started drawing manga with him. Be sure to experience the fresh yet heartbreaking story of the two girls at the cinema.
It was also announced that on July 20th, a stage greeting will be held at Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo by haruka nakamura, who wrote the film’s music, and director Oshiyama Kiyotaka. The event will take place after the 10:00 screening and before the 12:15 screening, and tickets are all reserved seats and cost 1,700 yen including tax. Tickets will go on sale from midnight on July 13th on the theater’s website and at the theater box office from the time the theater opens, so fans should make sure not to miss it.
