The second season, “Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story – Kyoto Disturbance”, will be broadcast for two consecutive seasons on Fuji TV’s “Noitamina” and other channels from October 2024. Himura Kenshin will no longer live a peaceful life at Kamiya Dojo, but will instead walk a difficult path confronting Shishio Makoto. The setting will move from Tokyo, depicting new encounters and fierce battles.
A girl searching for the whereabouts of Soji and the other Oniwabanshu secret police officers. She is cheerful, caring towards her friends, and fearless. She meets Kenshin on the way to Kyoto, and ends up accompanying him.
— Could you tell us how you felt when you found out you would be appearing in the show?
Yamane: I never thought I would be able to be involved in “Rurouni Kenshin,” a series I’ve loved since I was a child.
When I heard I passed the audition, it really felt like a dream.
I felt a sense of responsibility to portray her as a girl who lives her life with integrity.
–Please tell us about your enthusiasm for playing this character.
Yamane: This work has been loved by many people for many years. I will take on the baton that has been passed down to me and do my best to please the fans and to make new viewers of “Rurouni Kenshin” fall in love with the girl named Misao Makimachi.

The legendary masterpiece “Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story” has been loved by people of all ages around the world, with the comic series having sold a total of 72 million copies and the live-action film series having grossed a total of 19.3 billion yen. In 2023, the staff and cast will be renewed as a new TV anime series, with the first season consisting of 24 episodes broadcast in July 2023, and the second season, “Kyoto Disturbance,” broadcasting in October 2024.
The original work by Nobuhiro Watsuki began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1994, and was first adapted into a TV anime in 1996. Since then, it has been expanded into various productions such as OVAs and feature films, and currently, Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story Hokkaido Arc is being serialized in Jump SQ.
For the second season, Yuki Komada (Assistant Director of Blade of the Immortal) was appointed as director in order to depict a more intense battle. Hideyuki Kurata (Made in Abyss) will continue to be in charge of series composition.
“Rurouni Kenshin” is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its serialization.
