One Piece, currently serialized by Eiichiro Oda in Weekly Shonen Jump, is a maritime adventure romance that is one of Japan’s most popular worldwide. It depicts the epic story of the Straw Hat Pirates, led by Monkey D. Luffy, setting out on the open seas in search of the One Piece, the treasure left behind by the legendary pirate king Gold Roger. The live-action version of the Netflix series made a big splash with season 1 entering the top 10 in 93 countries and topping the charts in 46 countries immediately after its release.
Season 1 was set in Luffy’s hometown of the East Blue, and depicted the fierce battles with rough pirates such as Buggy and Arlong, as well as the origins of the Straw Hat Pirates’ adventure. Now that Luffy and his crew have become wanted men, a pirate’s badge of honor, they each pursue their own dreams and set out on a voyage on the Grand Line, an adventure that goes beyond common sense, in the sequel, Season 2.
This time, new cast members who will play characters who have appeared for a long time in the original work in Season 2 have been revealed. Smoker of the Navy HQ will be played by Callum Carr from the TV drama “Monarch,” and Tashigi, the swordsman who works with him, will be played by Julia Rehwaldt, who has appeared in the anime “Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.” The two have a connection with the “Straw Hat Crew,” so how will they perform in this work?
Rob Colletti, who has appeared in “The Sopranos” and other films, will play Wapol, a character who has appeared for a long time in the original work. Furthermore, newcomer Ty Keough will play Dalton.
In a special video released when the decision to make a sequel was announced, Oda, the original author and executive producer of this series, said, “From here on, I feel like the Straw Hat Pirates will need a good ‘ship’s doctor’… so stay tuned!” These two also hint at the episode on that island in Season 2.
The live-action Netflix series “ONE PIECE” is currently streaming season 1 exclusively, and season 2 will be exclusively streamed soon. Over the course of three days, new cast members were announced every day, including the secret criminal organization Baroque Works, Dory and Brogy, Crocus, and the new members.
