This year’s total number of votes was 57,074,053, about 128% of last year’s, the highest number ever. In first place was “Cinnamoroll” (last year’s first place), achieving its first ever 5 consecutive wins. In the initial results, it lost its first place position to “Pochacco”, but after the interim results were announced, it regained the top spot, and was the only character to exceed 5 million votes. It received an overwhelming number of votes, more than 1 million more than the second place character.
The 5 consecutive wins is the second longest record after “Hello Kitty” (12 consecutive wins/1998-2009), and is tied with Pochacco (5 consecutive wins/1991-1995).
In second place is “Pochacco” (last year’s 4th place), which is celebrating its 35th anniversary since its debut, making it into the top 2 for the first time in 28 years in its anniversary year. In third place is “Kuromi” (last year’s 3rd place), which was not in the top 3 in the initial and interim reports, but showed tenacity.
