The anime series Mobile Suit Gundam began airing in 1979. With its realistic depictions of war, in which robots were used as weapons known as “mobile suits,” meticulous scientific research, and complex, deep human drama, it established the genre of “real robot anime,” which went beyond the simple good-versus-evil tropes that had been the trend in robot anime up until that point.

The “Paper Art si-gu-mi PRO Gundam Series” is a 3D paper puzzle that allows you to create and display the mobile suits that appear in the series. By assembling the parts that are meticulously arranged on a 1mm-thick laser-cut paper board, you can create a mobile suit that is precisely reproduced down to the smallest detail. The

new product, which is currently accepting pre-orders, is the first to use pre-dyed paper to reproduce the military colors of the suit. In addition, precise laser slitting has been applied to express the curved surfaces of the shoulder armor and calves.

“Paper Art si-gu-mi PRO MS-06S Char’s Zaku II” is based on the iconic mobile suit piloted by Char Aznable. By using coral-colored dyed paper, the image color of the “Red Comet” is faithfully reproduced. Taking advantage of his outstanding piloting skills and mobility, the suit is posed firing the “Zaku Machine Gun” in space. By assembling a total of 297 parts, a tabletop interior piece with a total height of approximately 133 mm can be created.

The “Paper Art si-gu-mi PRO MS-06F Zaku II” is based on the mass-produced mobile suit that represents the Principality of Zeon. It uses mint green dyed paper to recreate the military camouflage color. Unlike the pose of the “Char’s Zaku II”, you can enjoy the atmosphere and worldview of a pilot who is inexperienced in combat firing a bazooka.

There are 306 parts in total, and the overall height is about 125mm. The laser-cut paperboard parts can be removed with just your fingertips, and basically can be easily assembled without using any glue. I would like to line up two “Zaku IIs” and the “si-gu-mi PRO RX-78-2 Gundam” that is currently on sale to turn my desktop into a stylish and artistic “battlefield”.
