This “Gundam Yamakasa” will be on display at Kamikawabata Shopping Street in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City from July 1st (Monday) to the early morning of July 15th (Monday/holiday), 2024. On the 12th (Friday), there will be an Oi Yamakasa Narashi,'' which is a rehearsal for the actual performance, and on the 15th (Monday, a public holiday), theOi Yamakasa” will run through the streets of Hakata.
There are also plans to collaborate with Kawabata Shopping District, which is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the appearance of the “Running Kazari Yamakasa”. Furthermore, it has been decided that the “Summer Gundam 45th Anniversary Festival Galapon” will be held at LaLaport Fukuoka’s Gundam Park Fukuoka, where you can win luxurious prizes.

The Gundam series is a Japanese animation series that will celebrate its 45th anniversary in 2024 since Mobile Suit Gundam was broadcast in 1979. In Fukuoka, the gateway to Asia, a life-size ν Gundam statue “RX-93ff ν Gundam” is on display at LaLaport Fukuoka in order to convey the appeal of the Gundam series to the world. It was decorated on a hat.
Inspired by the fierce, thunderous battle scene that unfolded in the movie “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack” in which the aircraft that became the prototype for the statue appears, in addition to the ν Gundam, Sazabi and others have been created. “Gundam Hakata Jinraiden”, decorated with mobile suits and expressed with the delicate modeling and bold power unique to Yamakasa, will run through the streets of Hakata.
With a height of over 10 meters and a weight of over 2 tons, it is the largest running Yamakasa and attracts many citizens and tourists every year. Not only can you run through the streets of Hakata with Oiyama tamashi and Oiyamakasa, but one of the highlights is the mechanism that makes the doll decorations move.
Hakata Gion Yamakasa is held from July 1st to 15th every year and is a summer tradition in Hakata that attracts as many as 3 million people. A nationally important intangible folk cultural property that boasts over 780 years of tradition. On the final day, the 15th, nearly 10,000 participants called Oi Yamakasa run through the streets of Hakata at dawn, each carrying eight Yamakasa in turn. Click here
