This work was produced as the culmination of the 10th anniversary project of the hybrid unit “i☆Ris”, which combines the activities of voice actors and idols. <Thank you for everything. And I would like to see more from now on. The animated movie “i☆Ris the Movie – Full Energy!! -” depicts that feeling of gratitude, the history of i☆Ris, and the future in a realistic and sometimes fantastical way. We spoke with Saki Yamakita, Yu Serizawa, Hikaka Akaneya, Yuki Wakai, and Miyu Kubota.
–Please tell us how you felt when it was decided that you would be producing the animated movie “i☆Ris the Movie – Full Energy!! -“.
Saki Yamakita (hereinafter referred to as Yamakita): Hatena? That’s what I felt (laughs). “What does that mean?” I paused and thought. But what I honestly think is that this is a project that could only be done by voice actors and idols like i☆Ris.
Yu Serizawa (hereinafter referred to as Serizawa): Why now? That’s what I thought. There must have been more exciting times! (laughs) However, when I heard about “Thank you for the 10th anniversary,” I thought it would be great if we could do something that we can do now that we have accumulated so many memories. However, my junior member WUG-chan (Wake Up, Girls!) was in the same anime and live-action series, so I wanted to give it a try from the moment we formed the group.
Himika Akaneya (hereinafter referred to as Akaneya): I was exactly the same as the two of them and wondered, Why now?'' In the early days, there was a part of me that thought WUG-chan's activities were good. We started out handing out flyers in Akihabara, so I'm jealous of the push we're getting (lol). I remembered those forgotten feelings. Also, I didn't know what kind of story it would be, so I was a little worried, wondering if it would be okay, but when I opened the lid, I learned that it was a 10th anniversary project, so I thought, Yeah, that’s it.”
Yuki Wakai (hereinafter referred to as Wakai): I also asked, “Why?” (laughs). I understand the purpose of the project, which is an anime work in which all the voice actors are voice actors, as I did it in Pripara,'' but when it comes to a work that becomes a movie version, there is a pressure that I don't understand that I have to produce results.” hand. I felt like, “Will this work? Is it okay?” (laughs)
However, when I talked to them later, they explained to me, “Of course the result is important, but I also wanted to make a memorial piece to commemorate i☆Ris’ 10th anniversary!” and I felt grateful.
Miyu Kubota (hereinafter referred to as Kubota): Like everyone else, I also wondered, Why now?'' and Avex has gone crazy.” (laughs) Also, I was like, “What kind of story is this?”
This is because, in my mind, I had a strong impression that idols being made into movies = documentary films. AKB48 and Sakamichi groups are doing it, right? So, if you’re going to tell a story like a documentary, there’s no need to do it as an anime, and what kind of story is it? That’s it.
But when I received the script and read it, I realized that it had a perfect balance between reality and fantasy. Although it has the fantastical elements of being set in Lislisland, it also incorporates our history and the path we have taken, which made me feel, “Wow, I’m grateful that you’ve made such an amazing work.”
–Furthermore, live elements were fused into it, creating an animation that could only be done by i☆Ris.
Kubota: That’s right. I think it would be difficult to do the motion capture ourselves.
