Ahead of the nationwide release, on Saturday, October 5th and Sunday, October 6th, Amamiya
Sora, who plays the main character Murakami Etsuko (Etsu-nee), and director Sakuragi Yuhei will make a triumphant return to Matsuyama, Ehime, where the film was set!
The cast members expressed their gratitude to the local community of Matsuyama by participating in an exchange event with students from Ehime Prefectural Matsuyama Higashi High School, which served as the model for Mitsuhigashi High School, where the characters in the film attend. They also attended a premiere screening of the completed film and made a courtesy visit to the mayor of Matsuyama.

On Saturday, October 5th, the first day of the campaign, a special recording of the ongoing web radio series, titled “Amamiya Sora’s Ganbatte Ikimasshoi in Matsuyama Higashi High School,” was held in public with students from Matsuyama Higashi High School.
During the recording at Mitsuhigashi High School, the model school for the main character Etsuko, whom she plays, Amemiya and others interacted with students from Matsuyama Higashi High School, answering their real questions and asking them questions.
Amemiya also asked the rowing club members a frank question: “What is it like being in the rowing club?” and listened with interest to their training menus that change between summer and winter.
Furthermore, when the student council president performed the rousing call of “Ganbatte ikimasshoi,” which also appears in the story, Amemiya said excitedly, “It’s the first time I’ve heard the real thing!” He then performed a powerful “Ganbatte ikimasshoi” himself, and the students responded with a heartfelt “Shoi!”, which also moved Amemiya.
He was also surprised to learn that the call itself is actually still deeply rooted among high school students today, which seemed to make him even more interested in the film.
That evening, the venue shifted to Cinema Sunshine Emifull Masaki, where a stage greeting was held in conjunction with the Ehime Premiere advance screening.
Regarding the fact that he will be making a triumphant return to Ehime, where the film is set, and showing it to the locals ahead of its nationwide release, Amemiya asked, “On the other hand…what did the people of Matsuyama think when they saw it?” and as the venue erupted in applause, he said, “I’m so happy! I’m happy to think that I’ll be able to talk like this in front of all of you who are familiar with the various landscapes of Ehime.” He spoke passionately about his overflowing emotions at the screening in his long-awaited home.
Director Sakuragi reflected on the early stages of production when they began scouting locations, saying, “I have been to Ehime many times over the past few years in order to make this film, so there is a mysterious sense of tension knowing that the local people, people who you could call Ehime professionals in a sense, are watching the film.”
This was Amemiya’s second visit to Ehime. When asked about her favorite place, she mentioned “Soft Time,” where the main character Etsuko and her friends stop by after school. She also added, “At first, I thought the view of the ocean across the railroad crossing at Umezudera (station) was something like an anime created by the director, but it was actually there and I thought it was really beautiful.” She seemed impressed that the beautiful scenery featured in the film actually exists.
When asked about how faithfully Matsuyama was recreated, Director Sakuragi said, “I created the setting by walking around on foot. I depicted the place where the main character Etsuko lives and her route to school using a fairly realistic transportation network, and I think the film will allow you to imagine what kind of life she leads.”
He spoke passionately about not only the reproduction of beautiful nature and cityscapes, but also about the uncompromising production of his works. Furthermore, Ehime Prefecture Vice-Governor Noriyuki Suga and Ehime Prefecture image promotion mascot Mikyan also appeared at the event and presented local Ehime products (Ehime citrus juice, Mikyan stuffed toy).
When Amamiya received the Mican stuffed animal, she recalled the crane game that Etsuko played in the main story and smiled happily, saying, “Etsuko-nee missed out on getting it, but I got it!”
翌10月6日（日）には、雨宮と櫻木監督による松山市役所への表敬訪問が行なわれた。野志克仁（のし かつひと）市長のもとを訪れ、この度全国公開される本作の完成を報告するとともに愛媛への感謝を込めて（市長から）挨拶した。
作品を見つけたきっかけについて、櫻木監督は「もともと『がんばっていきま.っしょい』の実写作品を見ていて、その中にも愛媛のポイント・聖地のようなところが出ていて、松山の文化的なものも含めて良いなと感じていた」と語り、舞台を細やかに描き切るうえで土台となった考えを述べた。
また、自身が演じた主人公・悦子に共感するポイントとして雨宮は「私も高校生の時に、付き合う人の幅が広がったことで、自分に対する“何者でもなさ”に打ちひしがれて無気力になっていた時期ってあったので、すごくそこが共感しましたね。それでいて、諦めきれない思いや、ここぞというときの爆発力というのは自分の高校のときとかぶります」と本作へ息を吹き込んだ熱い想いを語った。
こうして、盛りだくさんの内容で行われた劇場アニメーション『がんばっていきまっしょい』布教ツアーin愛媛は無事終幕。
現地で様々な形で愛媛愛・作品愛を受け取り、10月25日(金)全国公開へ向けての盛り上がりを肌で感じるイベントとなった

あきらめない。みんなとなら言える。
学校をあげてボートのクラスマッチを行っている三津東高校。誰もが全力で競技に挑む中、2年生の村上悦子はひとり醒めた表情だ。
才能もないのに頑張ったって仕方ない……そう気づいてからの悦子は、勝負をあきらめてばかりいる。そんなある日、悦子のクラスに高橋梨衣奈という転入生がやってきた。
クラスマッチのボートに感動した梨衣奈は、悦子と幼なじみの佐伯姫を巻き込み、廃部状態だったボート部の復活に奔走する。
同学年の兵頭妙子と井本真優美が入部し5人になると、名義貸しのつもりだった悦子も渋々、初の大会に出場することに。
試合当日、理想と現実の差に打ちのめされてしまった悦子たち。
全員がゴールをあきらめかけた瞬間、悦子がオールを再び握りしめる。
「私、もっと上手くなりたい」という悦子の言葉で、5人の気持ちはひとつになる――！
