It’s already been two weeks since the film was released on September 20th… While Transformers fans and movie fans were still overwhelmed by the new dimension of realistic CG movie that depicts the story of the beginning of Transformers, including the friendship between young Optimus Prime and Megatron, a talk event was held at Ikebukuro Grand Cinema Sunshine to celebrate the film’s huge success. The event was held after a screening of the ATMOS dubbed version of “Transformers: One,” which allowed viewers to fully experience the BESTIA environment, which combines the latest laser projection system and 3D sound under the supervision of sound director Yoshikazu Iwanami.
Amidst rapturous applause from the audience, who had thoroughly enjoyed this “new dimension,” Ryoka Yuzuki, who voiced the lightning-fast spider-like Transformer Airachnid in the Japanese dub, and Yoshikazu Iwanami, the sound director who has worked on many dubs for the Transformers series, appeared on stage.
In front of the fans who had gathered for this memorable talk event, Iwanami started off by saying, “Good evening, I’m Nakamura Yuichi!”, followed by Yuzuki, who said, “This is Yoshioka Riho!”. The two then gave greetings filled with humor, and Iwanami jokingly said, “I actually wanted to appear with Yoshioka Riho! (laughs),” and the event began with the audience erupting in laughter.
Iwanami and Yuzuki have known each other since they recorded the voice-over for “Beast Wars: Super Life Form Transformers.” Following her role as the spider-woman Black Widow in “Beast Wars,” Yuzuki will be playing the spider-type Transformer Airachnid in this film. Yuzuki looked deeply moved as she said, “It’s been 27 years since Beast Wars in 1997! I’ve been playing spiders for 27 years now…”
Airachnid, the character played by Yuzuki in this film, is a character with many eyes on its head, but Iwanami suddenly remarked, “Airachnid is the only ‘Beast Wars element’ in this movie. But it’s the grossest in the Transformers series, isn’t it (laughs)?” She then made a gesture of complete denial, saying, “No, it’s not gross! The design is cooler than anything we’ve seen before! By the way, I was able to wear clothes inspired by Airachnid today,” which caused the audience to erupt in laughter.
The two then turned to Yoshioka Riho, who played the role of Elita-1 in the film. Looking back on the recording with Yoshioka, Iwanami commented, “Yoshioka-san was a really nice person…” and praised her, saying, “It’s not like Scarlett Johansson, who has a low voice in the original version. Yoshioka-san has a cute voice, so she consulted with a voice trainer herself, asking, ‘Is my voice okay?’ She was so enthusiastic and amazing! She was so careful and careful with the work.” He also revealed, “Yoshioka-san even checked out the YouTube program that Chiba Shigeru and Yamaguchi Kappei appeared on during ‘Transformers: Awakens.’ I was so worried that I had said something stupid!”
本作には、岩浪のアイディアのもとトランスフォーマーの世界観を体現できる人気声優たちが勢ぞろい。各キャラクターに関しても「オプティマスプライム役の中村悠一さんはストーリー的には18歳のうだつの上がらない若者くらいのイメージだったから、これからのし上がっていくぞ！みたいな演技に仕上げようと思って。だから、原語版はクリス・ヘムズワースが声を当てていて、低めの声なんだけど日本語版は気持ち年齢を下げた感じにしようかとは中村さんとも話しましたね。あとは、オプティマスたちに力を授けるアルファトライオンを演じた玄田哲章さん。このキャラクターの原語版はローレンス・フィッシュバーンが演じているんだけど、玄田さんもフィッシュバーンの吹替を『マトリックス』などでやっていたからその繋がりで起用しましたね。それに、若き者へ（力を）継承する役柄でもあるから、そういう意味でもピッタリだなと」と明かした。
また、演出してグッときたシーンは何か問われると岩浪は「オプティマスとメガトロンの若い頃の話というのが素晴らしかった。クライマックスでさ、仲良かったころの回想シーンがでてくるじゃない。あそこは試写でみたときもちょっと泣いちゃったね」と述べ、柚木も「私も2回観たんですけど、初っ端から泣けちゃって……。オプティマスがメガトロンにステッカーを渡すシーンが2回目みたときはもう……！」と回顧し、会場の観客たちも共感の反応をみせていた。
長年の付き合いある二人のトークはノンストップで続く。本作でゲスト声優として凸凹警備ロボット役を演じたお笑い芸人・錦鯉についても言及。岩浪は「錦鯉さんは本当に大変だった！（笑）長谷川雅紀さんの持ち前の明るさと勢いを吹替に落とし込むのが中々難しくて。その場で私がセリフをガーっと再調整したりしましたね」と長谷川の熱量に応えるためにその場でアレンジを施したという収録の裏話を語った。
イベントはあっという間に時間をむかえ長年のファンにとってはまさに「まだ尺が足りない！」と言えるほどのイベントとなったが、朗報なことに来週10/8（火）にも立川シネマシティにて同じく岩浪×柚木の相性抜群コンビでトークイベントを開催予定。「ちょっと遠いですが、立川も是非お越しください！」と柚木が御礼を述べつつ、岩浪は「本日はお越しいただきありがとうございました！ 立川ではもっとやべえ話するから！」とファンには聞き捨てならない事前告知！最後まで場内を沸かせるイベントとなった。
