VCR is a limited-time streamer event hosted by the gaming community “VAULTROOM” and the pro gaming team “Crazy Racoon.” Invited participants gather on a dedicated server and play the game to their heart’s content, interacting across the boundaries of different fields.

Minecraft, the game used in “VCR Minecraft Beta”, was officially released in 2011 and is an indie game that is still played all over the world. The vast map is made up entirely of blocks, and players can use them to build and explore various biomes (lands) made up of blocks.

Over the long history of Minecraft, various expansion programs called MODs have been created by users. By adding MODs, it is possible to change the appearance of blocks, add new elements to the game, and add new RPG elements to the game.

In this “VCR Minecraft Beta,” participants installed mods such as “Simple Voice Chat,” which allows voice chat with nearby players, and “Mine and Slash,” which adds skill trees and dungeons.

In “VCR Minecraft β”, by adding MODs, a job system and dungeons were added, and in addition to the building and survival that are unique to “Minecraft”, cooperative elements that are typical of VCR were also included. Here are some features of “VCR Minecraft β” that are different from the regular “Minecraft”.

The name of the map that participants will land on this time is “VCR Kingdom.” VCR Castle and residential areas have already been constructed within the high walls, and the Western-style townscape includes a shopping street where items can be purchased and a fountain plaza.

Outside the kingdom, there is undeveloped land, and participants can enjoy building and adventure outside the castle walls. People often gather in the VCR Kingdom, which is reached immediately after joining the server, and there were scenes of people looking for new friends and acquaintances here.

また、サーバー負荷を考慮して家畜の大量飼育やトラップタワーの建設をするエリアは制限されています。農業エリアから別マップに飛ぶことで、大農園や牧場を作ることが可能となっていました。

「VCRマイクラβ」最大の特徴は職業システムです。選べる職業は「農家・採掘師・錬金術師・園芸師・建築家・エンチャンター・漁師・鍛冶師」の全8種。それぞれの職業でしか作れないアイテム（専用クラフト）があるため、参加者は自分のしたいことや仲間の職業を考慮して職業を選択する必要があります。

木を伐採するための斧や石を掘るためのつるはしなど、サバイバルや建築に必要不可欠なアイテムを作れる職業が限定されていたことから、イベント序盤から協力者や仲間を募るための交流が生まれていました。

就職した職業で労働に励むことで参加者には報酬として通貨が与えられます。この通貨を使用することで、ゲーム攻略に有利なアイテムやエンチャントを購入したり、ダンジョンに挑戦したりすることが可能です。

VCR王国のあるマップ以外に、ダンジョンが存在する「異世界ギルド」という別マップが用意されていました。ダンジョンには職業システムとは異なる役職が存在し、遠距離攻撃や回復が出来る魔法使いや、近接攻撃を主に行う剣士など様々な役職が選択可能です。

レベルが上がれば新たなスキルを解放できるスキルツリーが用意されており、VCRでは初のRPG要素がありました。初期はレベルが低く敵の数も多いため、ここでも仲間との協力が必須になります。

珍しいエンチャントやダンジョン攻略に有利な強力アイテムが獲得できることから、多くの参加者がダンジョンに挑戦していました。中にはソロでダンジョン攻略に挑み、他の参加者に強力な装備を売る商人ムーブをする参加者も。VCR王国とは異なるマップでしたが、ここでも交流が生まれていました。
