Celebrated artist Ogura Yui is set to release her highly anticipated album, “Bloomy,” on September 18, 2024. This marks her first new album in about two and a half years and promises a fresh and vibrant chapter in her musical journey. The album features a blend of hit singles, new tracks, and a self-penned bonus song, all revolving around the theme of “flowers.”
A New Chapter: The Concept of “Bloomy”
Ogura Yui explains, “This album represents my transition into a new era, possibly my last album in my 20s. I envisioned flowers in full bloom to symbolize my current feminine beauty and the fleeting nature of life. The visual concept, including my makeup and hair, reflects a departure from my usual style, aiming to surprise and delight my audience.”
Fresh Tracks and Floral Themes
“Bloomy” includes four hit singles and eight new songs, with contributions from notable writers including Kiyoshi Ryuto. Ogura reveals, “I had a range of songs to choose from and decided to select tracks that resonated with me and aligned with the album’s theme. The lyrics across the new songs incorporate floral imagery to create a cohesive worldview.”
Spotlight on “Wind of Bloom”
The lead track, “Wind of Bloom,” is particularly special as Ogura wrote the lyrics herself. She shares, “I wanted this song to encapsulate the essence of the album. Flowers are fleetingly beautiful, and I wanted to capture that transient beauty in the lyrics. The melody and lyrics reflect a deep personal meaning, and I hope listeners feel the emotion behind each word.”
Recording and Visuals
Discussing the recording process, Ogura says, “I usually record in sections, but for this album, I focused on the flow of the entire song. I aimed to ensure that the orchestral elements, even without my vocals, would provide a pleasant listening experience.”
The music video for “Wind of Bloom” is a visual treat, representing the theme of wind through Ogura’s performance in various floral-themed costumes. She adds, “The video features me in different outfits with floral elements, and the scene where flowers fall was a fun challenge to shoot, using a hand-crafted setup by the staff.”
Tour Announcement
Ogura’s “LIVE TOUR 2024 Bloomy×Meet you!” will kick off on October 14, 2024. This tour marks her first in about five years and will visit six cities across Japan, including Fukuoka and a return to Gunma.
