Tomita: I’m Tomita, an executive officer at Cybird, primarily overseeing development and operations.
Ito: I’m Ito, executive producer at EXNOA. EXNOA is handling the publishing aspect of this project. Thank you for having us.
Q: What is the concept behind the new brand, “Romanteen18”?
Ito: Romanteen18 is designed for adult women with the theme “Happy dreams at the end of the day.” Our goal is to provide an immersive experience with rich storytelling and deep characters, allowing players to escape reality. We offer both a regular version and an adult version, catering to different tastes while maintaining a high standard of narrative and visual quality.
Tomita: We aim to deliver a delicate and aesthetically pleasing experience, akin to teen romance comics, while providing high-quality content with age-appropriate themes. The first title, “The Dream Tower and the Sleepless Butterfly,” is just the beginning, with plans to expand the series.
Q: Tell us about “The Dream Tower and the Sleepless Butterfly.”
Tomita: The game follows a working woman who suffers from insomnia. She discovers a mystical incense that leads her to Mugenro, a brothel in a dream world where demons reside. In Mugenro, she spends a magical night with one of seven male characters, exploring deep and captivating love stories. After waking, she questions whether it was all just a dream.
Ito: Each character offers a unique, one-on-one romance experience. The main stories of three characters will be available at launch, with additional character stories added later. The game also features event stories on separate timelines.
Q: Could you elaborate on the world and setting of the game?
Tomita: The game is set in two realms: the real world, which is modern-day Japan, and Kakuriyo, an alternate world. Mugenrou, the brothel in Kakuriyo, is a place for demons, and humans can visit it only through the mystical incense. The seven male characters, or “male prostitutes,” also exist in the real world, creating a blend of fantasy and reality.
Ito: The male characters have a dual existence, interacting with the protagonist both in the dream world and potentially in her everyday life. This adds layers to their stories and relationships.
Q: How did the collaboration between Cybird and EXNOA come about?
Ito: The collaboration began around four years ago, driven by a shared vision between Cybird’s Tomita and our producer. We combined our strengths to create something new and exciting for adult women.
Tomita: Timing played a crucial role. After years of development, the moment to launch Romanteen18 arrived. We’re thrilled about this partnership and eager to see how users respond.
Q: What are the differences between the regular and adult versions of the game?
Ito: The regular version offers a rich romantic experience, while the adult version provides additional mature content. Both versions share the core story, but the adult version includes more detailed love scenes and full voice acting for certain scenarios. Players can choose how they wish to experience the game.
Tomita: You can enjoy the regular version for the main storyline and switch to the adult version for more intimate content if desired. The game supports data synchronization between versions.

Tomita: The game uses “Story Tickets” to progress through the narrative, with new tickets replenished daily. Choices during the story influence the protagonist’s interactions and outcomes. There are two main routes: “Dreamy Romance” and “Sensual Romance.”
