This work is a yakuza entertainment story that is full of thrills and crazy love and hate, centering on Somei Yoshino, the granddaughter of the boss of the Somei-gumi, a direct descendant of the Kansai region’s largest gang, the Kirigaya-gumi, and Miyama Kirishima, the grandson of the head of the Miyama-ikka, a direct descendant of the Kanto region’s largest gang, the Tokusa-kai. It has received overwhelming support, especially from female readers.
Yoshino’s grandfather, the boss of the Somei-gumi, a direct affiliate of the Kirigaya-gumi, the largest designated crime syndicate in the Kansai region. He raised Yoshino, who lost her parents at a young age, together with the gang’s other members. He is kind, but also has a bright and bold personality, and sometimes makes Yoshino feel uncomfortable with his outlandish comments and actions. Together with his old friend, Miyama Kaku, he arranges a marriage between Yoshino and Kirishima, who are their respective grandchildren.

──The appeal of this work
Ueda: First of all, the illustrations are quite unique. They have an exquisite balance between the aesthetic aspects of a romance manga and the edgy, picaresque atmosphere of the yakuza world, and are neither too realistic nor too beautiful, making them very captivating.
Another highlight is the interplay between the two, who grew up in special environments, and how Kirishima’s insanity and Yoshino’s determination will help them build a relationship.
──What are your thoughts on acting?
Ueda: Renji is a handsome man who has aged while still being a brat, and his anime design is cool, so I feel a lot of pressure. However, I’m also from Kansai, so I want to keep the tone of the conversation. So, while he looks like a tough old man, he has the heart of a gang leader, and I want to give him the impression of being a really scary person when he gets angry.
In another work, you played a gangster with a family, but you have complicated feelings towards your daughter in particular. Please look forward to that as well.
He is the head of the Miyama Family, a direct descendant of the Tokusa-kai, the largest designated crime syndicate in the Kanto region, and Kirishima’s great-uncle. Apparently he looked very similar to Kirishima when he was younger, with a handsome appearance and a dignified aura, and he is still going strong today. Somei Renji is an old acquaintance, and one of the few friends of Kaya, who does not have a wide circle of friends. According to Renji, Kaya is extremely good at fighting and gambling, and Renji has only been able to beat him once so far.

──The appeal of this work
Nakai: Yoshino, who has the sensibilities of an ordinary person but lives in a special world, has light-hearted remarks, and even though some pretty gruesome things happen, it makes you want to keep watching.
Kirishima’s words and actions are a mix of madness and cuteness, and they come across as funny, drawing you in to the entanglement between the two.
There is a sense of catharsis in the boldness that Yoshino occasionally shows, and the work-related aspects are also interesting, giving a sense of the reality of what the underworld is like.
──What are your thoughts on acting?
Nakai: This may be the first time I’ve played a role that could be called a grandfather. I’m happy. I want to portray the awesomeness, composure, and sexiness of a man who has lived in a world where lives are traded.
There are many things I want to express and hope to be able to do, but for now I want to be careful not to get carried away by the Kansai dialect that is flying around the studio.

Somei Yoshino goes to live with Miyama Kirishima, a family of the Miyama Ikka, a family of the Tokusa-kai, the largest crime syndicate in Kanto, and her potential marriage partner, Miyama Kirishima, is selected by her grandfather, Somei Renji, the boss of the Somei-gumi, a family of the Kirigaya-gumi, the largest crime syndicate in Kansai.
Kirishima warmly welcomes Yoshino and is a refreshing, friendly young man who is hard to believe comes from a yakuza family. Yoshino, who had been anxious about being in an unfamiliar place, breathes a sigh of relief.
