◆ Kurashiki area: Motif: Muscat / Background: Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter
A representative tourist destination in Okayama Prefecture, visited by over 3 million tourists a year. The beautiful townscape, where white-walled storehouses remaining from the Edo period harmonize with Western-style architecture, attracts tourists from all over the world.
◆ Kojima area: Motif: denim / Background: Great Seto Bridge
The Great Seto Bridge, one of the world’s largest bridges connecting Honshu and Shikoku, is one of the bridges that directly connects Okayama Prefecture and Kagawa Prefecture. It was the first of the three bridges to open on April 10, 1988. It is a road and rail bridge that spans the middle of the Seto Inland Sea, which is lined with many islands. The route is 37.3 km long for roads and 32.4 km for rails, and consists of six bridges spanning 9.4 km of the straits. The sight of the world’s largest bridges, including suspension bridges, cable-stayed bridges, and truss bridges, lined up together is spectacular. Every Saturday and on certain days, the bridges are lit up from sunset, allowing you to enjoy an elegant and romantic atmosphere.
◆Tamashima area: Motif: White peach / Background: Entsuji Temple
This old Soto Zen temple sits atop a small hill and is known as the place where the Edo-period monk Ryokan trained in his youth. You can enjoy seasonal flowers in the grounds, which feature a stone garden and stately reed-roofed buildings, as well as the adjacent Entsuji Park. The Ryokan Tea Ceremony, which commemorates Ryokan’s virtues, is held in the temple’s main hall and other locations when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, allowing visitors to experience the graceful world of tea ceremony. In the fall, the Ryokan Festival is also held, featuring a children’s sketching competition, tea ceremonies, and song and dance offerings.
The collaboration goods include badges and acrylic key chains featuring three types of original collaborative artwork, as well as masking tape and denim goods, which are famous industries in Kurashiki, produced in cooperation with local manufacturers.
