Additionally, a 15-second teaser for the drama has been released, along with an original illustration and comment from Masakazu Katsura.
The original work was the serial debut of manga artist Masakazu Katsura, who is known for works such as “Video Girl Ai” and “I”s,” and is a masterpiece that was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” (Shueisha) from 1983 to 1985.
His style, heavily influenced by the special effects heroes of the 1980s, has made him popular with both men and women, and he has continued to fascinate people in various genres, including being adapted into anime and games.
Now, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the masterpiece “Wingman,” which revolutionized Weekly Shonen Jump in the 1980s, a popular cast and powerful staff will be teaming up to make a live-action drama!
Who will play the main character, Hirono Kenta? Stay tuned for more information!
A dream from 42 years ago.
Wingman is being made into a live-action film.
I’m overwhelmed with emotion.
This legendary hero manga, which has been loved by many, is finally being adapted into a live-action film! This is the second time that TV Tokyo has adapted a work by Masakazu Katsura into a live-action film, following “Video Girl Ai.”
This work is being produced in collaboration with Toei Video, the company that has made special effects history, and DMM TV, the most dynamic distribution platform today, with a talented cast and staff with a deep love for the original work coming together.
We seriously considered how to express the charm of the original work, with its unique characters, dazzling romance and youth, and exciting developments, in the world of 2024. I think it has become a hero story brimming with honesty and youthful charm, which shines especially in today’s age where mocking attitudes are praised.
The human drama created by the wonderful team of scriptwriters and the powerful action scenes are also major highlights! Please look forward to it!
