The anime “Re:ZERO − Starting Life in Another World” began airing in April 2016, with the second season airing from 2020 to 2021. The third season will begin airing on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. The first episode, “Theatrical Malice,” will be broadcast as a 90-minute extended special, but is currently being shown in theaters for two weeks only prior to the main broadcast.
The guests on stage this time were Yusuke Kobayashi, the voice of Subaru, Rie Takahashi, the voice of Emilia, Satomi Arai, the voice of Beatrice, Nobuhiko Okamoto, the voice of Garfiel, and Kohei Amasaki, the voice of Otto. They looked back on the second season and introduced the highlights of the third season.
At the end of the second season, Beatrice was freed from her curse by Subaru, and Emilia and the others overcame their own trials to free the Sanctuary. One year has passed since then, and Subaru and the others are living peaceful lives. However, Emilia receives an invitation from Anastasia, one of the candidates for the royal election, and decides to head to the water gate city of Pristella. In Pristella, Subaru and the others are happy to be reunited with the royal candidates and their knights after a long time. How will Subaru and the others overcome the schemes and crises that come their way?
The atmosphere was peaceful from the beginning, and the audience looked at the screen with relaxed expressions, but the mood changed towards the end, and their expressions became complicated. This first episode made us feel that this was truly “Re:Zero,” and that Subaru’s new challenge had begun.
After the screening, while the opening song for the third season, “Reweave” (sung by Suzuki Konomi), played, Kobayashi Yusuke, dressed in his familiar tracksuit, Takahashi Rie, Arai Satomi, Okamoto Nobuhiko, and Amasaki Kohei took to the stage.
When Kobayashi greeted the audience with a lively “Good morning!”, there was a big response from the audience, and the cast members on stage looked relieved. Perhaps because they had been worried about the mood of the audience after watching the end of the first episode, the cast members were in high spirits, repeating call-and-response-like exchanges.
As this is the first talk event in Japan where spoilers are allowed, everyone is excited. First, regarding the first episode, “Theatrical Malice,” Kobayashi said that the meaning behind making the first episode 90 minutes long is all packed into the ending, to which Takahashi nodded. Okamoto also said that he likes openings that give the feeling that something has already started.
The five characters who appeared on stage that day also made an appearance, but Otto had a lot of lines in the first episode, and Okamoto revealed how much Amazaki had written in the script, while Arai revealed that he had been practicing very hard, to which Amazaki seemed embarrassed.
Following the topic of how this time the royal candidates were all lined up and how luxurious it was, and how the female characters’ costumes were in the style of yukata, Amaki-san moved cutely and elegantly, making a “susususu” sound as if she was holding the hem of her costume. Arai-san said that it seemed to be Beatrice’s gesture, and that she was free to ad lib as much as she wanted.
There was also a rap scene (!?) between new character Liliana (voiced by Yamane Ki) and Subaru, and Kobayashi proudly said that the recording went smoothly in one take, drawing applause from the audience.
Regarding the last scene, Takahashi said that it ended before he understood what was going on, and Kobayashi said that he was also emotionally mixed up while he was acting. According to Okamoto, when the first episode was screened at Anime Expo 2024 in the United States in July, it was the moment that the audience was the most excited, and Wilhelm (CV: Kenyu Horiuchi) was also incredibly popular. From that topic, Kobayashi suggested that they hope to hold a support screening of Re:Zero in Japan someday, and the entire cast got excited.
また5人が演じるキャラの関係性の変化について、オットーがベアトリスをちゃん付けで呼んだことを新井さんが挙げると、もしかしてオットーはベアトリスのことを好きなのかなと天﨑さんは推測。しかし、すかさず小林さんからツッコミも。他にもガーフィールもイジられるようになったりと、1年の間でいろいろなことがあったのだとしみじみ語る新井さんの表情も印象的でした。
10月から放送が開始する、1話に続く第2話の見どころについては、「リリアナのおやつ」と、リリアナ役の山根さんが「『リゼロ』の洗礼を受けたところ」（!?）。また、小林さんいわく、キャスト陣の頼もしさを感じた回で、3rd seasonを頑張れると思えたきっかけになったそうなので、そちらも注目です！ なお、岡本さんの注目ポイントはガーフィールとミミ（CV.藤井ゆきよ）の関係性とのことで、天﨑さんもミミ推しとコメントする一幕も。
フォトセッションを挟んで、2週目入場者プレゼントの「スペシャルブックレット」の話題に。既に読んでいる高橋さんは、オンエア後にもう一度読み直すことをオススメしていました。
最後の挨拶では、天﨑さんは内政官として頑張るオットーの姿、岡本さんはガーフィールの成長譚とシリウス（CV. 安済知佳）のお芝居、新井さんはこれから新たに始まるベアトリスの人生と本来彼女が持つかわいさなど見どころを伝えます。高橋さんは、オンエアが始まると様々な情報があふれ出てくるので、その前の準備を呼びかけました。
そして、小林さんは1st season、2nd seasonは孤独な旅だったけど、3rd seasonは最初から一致団結しているので楽しく収録できていることと、戦闘がメインになっているので違った『リゼロ』を届けられる楽しみに満ちていることを告げ、絶対に第2話以降も飽きさせないという力強い言葉で締めくくりました。
なお、劇場公開記念舞台挨拶は9月7日（土）に東京・新宿バルト9とグランドシネマサンシャイン池袋にて行われ、小林裕介さん、新井里美さん、岡本信彦さん、天﨑滉平さん、山根綺さんが登壇。 9月8日（日）には、神奈川・横浜ブルク13、チネチッタ、109シネマズ川崎にて行われ、小林裕介さん、高橋李依さん、安済知佳さんが登壇します。先行劇場公開は、9月12日まで行われる予定で、本編公開前に観られる新キャラのリリアナによるオリジナルのマナー映像も必見です。
そして、『Re:ゼロから始める異世界生活 3rd season』は、襲撃編（全8話）・反撃編（全8話）の二部構成でお届け。襲撃編（全8話）は10月2日（水）より、反撃編（全8話）は2025年2月5日（水）より放送開始となりますので、お楽しみに！
