The original idea is for the sword-raising simulation game “Touken Ranbu ONLINE,” in which players lead “Touken Danshi,” famous swords transformed into warriors, and fight to protect history.

Since its launch in January 2015, “Touken Ranbu Online,” aka “TouRabu,” has gained a huge following and helped spark a nationwide sword boom. To date, it has been successfully adapted into numerous media mixes, including anime, musicals, consumer games, stage plays, movies, and kabuki, taking the entertainment world by storm.

The anime “Touken Ranbu Kai – The Legend of the Close Samurai” is a completely new original story that depicts the prequel to the anime “Touken Ranbu Kai – Kyoden – Burning Honnoji Temple.”

Kenichi Suemitsu, who has previously written and directed stage plays, will also be writing the script for this production, and the voice actors from the original game, Touken Ranbu ONLINE, will be providing the character voices.

Their stories, which have never been told before, will now be revealed.
