On Sunday, August 18th, a special stage event entitled “TV Anime ‘Blue Lock’ Season 2 Just Before! The Hottest Special Stage Ever” was held at the TV Asahi Roppongi Hills Summer Festival SUMMER STATION.
The four people who appeared on stage at the invitation of the host , Terakawa Shunpei , were Kazuki Ura , who plays Kiyotaka Yoichi, Tsubasa Kaito , who plays Horaku Kai, Eiji Mikami , who plays Hiori Hitsuji , and Sho Hatano, who plays Nanase Nijiro. In fact, a special stage was held at the same venue in 2022, but it felt that the enthusiasm for “Blue Lock” was clearly higher than it was then.
“This enthusiasm is as strong as the summer heat! Please stay with us until the end,” Ura said in a powerful greeting, and the talk corner began.
First, the new characters appearing in the second season, Hiori Hitsuji and Nanase Nijiro, will be introduced.
Regarding the character she played, Mikami said, “Compared to the other players, Hitsuji-kun has a unique sense of distance from soccer. Also, rather than aiming for shots, I got the impression that he was more of a killer pass player and a game maker.”
Next, Hatano introduced Nanase, saying, “Nijiro is a bright, energetic, and honest boy who creates a soft atmosphere. I think he adds a sweet, soft spice to the harsh atmosphere of Blue Rock.”
Ura immediately responded with a laugh, saying, “Maybe (sweet spice) is a bit of an exaggeration.” However, he acknowledged that Nanase is a character who brings laughter to everyone’s hearts, and that she lightens the mood. Kaito said that he felt that Hiori was a difficult character to play, but when he first heard her voice, he was shocked, saying, “I thought, this is Hiori!”
The key visual for the second season of the TV anime was also unveiled. The fans at the venue cheered loudly. Instead of a prison, you can see the sky at the stadium! The cast members talked about the changes from the past. They also announced that the title of the TV anime will be “Blue Lock VS. U-20 JAPAN”.
It was announced that the theme of the second phase would be that the 35 members who survived the selection would face off in a big game against the U-20 Japan National Team, with the survival of the project at stake.
“It’s always been a fierce battle, but in the second season, the national team, made up of the best players under the age of 20 in Japan, will face off against Blue Lock’s team, which only has strikers. What’s more, even while acting, I felt how much pressure it would be to fight in a stadium,” said Ura, explaining that a big change was that the setting was now a stadium with an audience rather than inside Blue Lock.
Furthermore, while the first season was recorded in separate locations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for the second season, many people were able to gather together to do the dubbing. Kaito emphasized, “The characters are playing soccer, but we also felt that this is our field! We are fighting here through our characters! Even in the dialogue between the characters, the chemistry that could only be expressed there was clearly evident, so I hope you will pay attention to that passion.”
Furthermore, when asked about the atmosphere during the recording session, Kaito praised the leader Ura-san for his amazing ability to make the atmosphere better and brighter! Ura-san’s reaction to this, which was not entirely opposed, conveyed the fun atmosphere on set.
Mikami and Hatano, who were nervous about being on set with so many senior actors, also expressed their gratitude to Ura and Kaito for helping them relax. Apart from that, Ura hinted that “There is someone who makes it hard for me to hold back my laughter every time we act.” Although he could not reveal who that person was, he said that this will also be a major highlight of the second season.
And with the big soccer event, the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Final Qualifiers, kicking off on Thursday, September 5th, TV Asahi invited special guests to collaborate on two of their biggest soccer content shows. FC Tokyo player Nagatomo Yuto and TV Asahi soccer commentator and J.League special director Uchida Atsuto took to the stage! A huge roar erupted in the hall. Moreover, Nagatomo was wearing his uniform, so we could get a feel for the incredible physical strength of the current Japanese national team player.
When asked by Terakawa about the weight of representing Japan, Nagatomo replied, “As a Japanese person, I’m happy to be able to wear the Japanese flag no matter how many times I wear it, and I still feel that weight.” Regarding the upcoming final qualifying round, Uchida said that the first match will be important, to which Nagatomo replied, “The final qualifying round is always a tough battle, so your cheers give us strength. Please support us.”
In response to the question, “Which striker have you seen or played against?” Uchida answered Rooney, while Nagatomo answered Ibrahimovic. Rooney drops to the midfield and scores goals while setting up the game, while Ibrahimovic boasts overwhelming physical strength. They taught us that there are many different strikers in the world, just like in “Blue Rock.”
そしてキャストから2人への質問コーナーでは、「初めて代表としてスタジアムに立ったときの気持ちを教えてください」と浦さんが質問。「Jリーグの最初の試合は緊張していて、ズボンを逆に履いていたほどだった」というエピソードを話す内田さん。長友さんは「僕はいつも緊張しています。初めての代表の試合では、『君が代』を歌うとき足が震えていました」と、その重圧について教えてくれた。
ここで突然、内田さんが「声優ってどうやったらなれるの？」と逆質問。そこから、声優さんに何か言ってもらおうという流れになり、浦さんに「長友、ボールに行けよ！」と言ってほしいと内田さんがリクエスト。
それに乗っかり、長友さんも「ブラボーも言ってほしいな」と盛り上がる。これには浦さんも、お二人が言うならばと、その大きな声を活かし、潔の声を「長友、ボールに行けよ！」「ブラボー」と叫ぶ。これには会場も大いに盛り上がっていた。
さらに浦さんからも「生ブラボーが聞きたいです」とリクエスト。封印してると言いながらも、最後に力強い「ブラボー」を会場に轟かせ、2人はステージをあとにした。
どよめきが残る中、キャスト陣からは、第2期への意気込みと『ブルーロック』ファンへメッセージが贈られる。
最後に浦さんが「まさかまさか、長友さんと内田さんと登壇させてもらえるとは夢にも思っていなかったです。2022年にもこのステージに立たせていただいたんですけど、それが『ブルーロック』としては初めてのイベント出演で、そこから2年越しに同じ舞台に戻ってこれたことが感慨深いです。ここでまた、皆さんから熱気をもらえたことに、作品のパワーを感じました。U−20日本代表に絶対に勝ちます！ ぜひぜひ第2期を楽しみにしていてください」と伝え、ステージをあとにした。
TVアニメ第2期『ブルーロック VS. U-20 JAPAN』は10月5日（土）より、テレビ朝日にて、いよいよ放送がスタートする。
