This film was released on Friday, June 28th, and became a hot topic when it ranked first in the weekend box office revenue rankings. After taking the top spot in the box office revenue rankings from the first day of its release, it rose to first place in the weekend box office including attendance in its second week of release.

Furthermore, rave reviews continued to pour in on social media, and word of mouth continued to spread, with the film reaching a total audience of 1 million on Sunday, August 18th.

I believe that the achievement of attracting 1 million viewers was made possible above all by the many word-of-mouth reviews from those who saw the film.

I’m very happy that people who have seen the film have each spoken about it as their own personal experience of the film.

There are still many challenges in animation production, and even if you create a good work, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will reach a large audience, but I think it’s the result of a series of lucky events.

The films are gradually being released overseas, and we sincerely hope that they will be able to spread the appeal of animated films to an even wider audience around the world.

“Look Back” is a masterpiece by manga artist Tatsuki Fujimoto, who has worked on popular titles such as “Fire Punch” and “Chainsaw Man,” and who has the animated film “Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc” about to be released.

Released on the comic distribution site “Shonen Jump +” in July 2021, the series vividly depicts the two girls, Fujino and Kyomoto, who are single-mindedly creating manga, while also depicting the events that will eventually change their fates with intense realism, attracting the attention of many manga fans, including well-known creators.

For the theatrical animation of this work, the director, scriptwriter, and character designer will be Oshiyama Kiyotaka, who has been involved as a key staff member in many popular works such as “Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance,” “The Secret World of Arrietty,” and “The Wind Rises.”

The film also stars Yumi Kawai and Mizuki Yoshida. Yumi Kawai, the hottest actor right now who made waves with her performance in “Inappropriately Too Much!” (24), and Mizuki Yoshida, an actor who has been spurring on a remarkable career in recent years with leading roles in films such as “A Hot Heart” (23) and “The Song of Kamuy” (24), will breathe life into the characters of Fujino and Kyomoto in the animated film “Look Back.”

Nationwide release from June 28th (Friday)
